Apartment Review for Stonegate Cottages

They are older units that sit right on Memorial Drive across from T.I.'s club Esso. Each unit is independently owned so the inside can vary greatly. I looked at these condos years ago when they were full price and knew they weren't worth that much. I finally purchased last year, and I will say I hate it.

The units are nice, the community is convenient to everywhere- Decatur, L5P, Downtown, Airport, etc, the exteriors are maintained and I think it is pretty quiet here, but I am also a very heavy sleeper. This is the good.

However, the HOA board members are ridiculous. Instead of making sure neighbors all know each other and are friendly with each other and can communicate like adults amongst , they threaten fines for everything, and are nosy always watching everyone like a hawk. They don't advertise when and where the HOA meetings are and schedule them when people are still getting off/home from work. I've had other owners say they have been sitting by the pool and a HOA board member will walk in and poke them to get their attention because they didn't recognize them.

They care more about fining people that getting stuff done it seems. I've waited 8 months now for them to do some exterior maintenance- hasn't been done yet. They do not give anyone notice about the dumpster being repaired and people have thrown trash in at night not realizing there was no dumpster in the enclosure and now trash is sitting exposed and rotting. They also allow people to let their cats roam around the property where they climb on your roofs and decks.

It's a hot mess. I'd say it's tolerable if you rent, but I would buy elsewhere just to avoid the HOA Board.
