Hunters Run Or Hunters Slum?

From the day I moved in I regretted it. During my first visit at Hunters Run when I was shown the very nice but very misleading model apartment I specifically asked if there was a good mixture of people at Hunters Run. I was told yes. This was sooo far from the truth. My room mate and I were 2 of the only caucasian people in the complex. There was drug dealing in the parking lot, lots of glares and stares from our neighbors who made it very obvious that we did not fit in. The first night in the apartment and pretty much most nights after that we endured hours of loud music from the parking lot. People would knock on the door looking for cigarettes. I used the pool maybe 3 times. ( Most of the time it was closed for unknown reasons) The last time I used the pool was when I looked down and noticed I was swimming with dirty band aids. I could deal with the floating hair weaves but the band aid was the last straw. We had roaches from day one. Constant complaining was useless. I would be told when pest control comes next month I will make sure he does your apartment. What ever they use obviously does not work. The final straw for me was when I went on vacation and came home to find my INDOOR cat infested with fleas to the point his fur fell out. Mind you my cat had never had fleas before we moved in to Hunters Run. I complained right away and was told that it was my fault. ( I had lived for year and a half at another complex and had never seen a flea ) Then I was told my room mate gave them to the cat. I have never heard of a human being giving a cat fleas! My vet ( $200.00 richer now ) suggested that maybe they were in the walls and or carpet. It made sense after one of the maintenance men told us that they keep the "new" carpet in run down shed next to the run down tennis courts. I later found out that my brand new neighbor downstairs also had a flea infested apartment. He had that same "brand new" carpet. Maybe they came thru the floor. Obviously this was the last straw for us. After only 4 months we decided that living in Hunters Run was not for us. We ended up having to not only pay and extra $565.00 to break our lease but lost our security deposit as well. RENTERS BEWARE- These aparments are old and run down. There is no over head lighting, the A/C units are from the 60's it cost us on average $200.00 a month to have the temp set to 78 degrees. The staff was rude and not once did they apoligize for anything that was wrong with their complex. Everytime I had a concern it was made to somehow be my or my room mates fault. After all this if you are still interested in HUNTERS RUN APARTMENTS contact the Augusta Police Departmentment.. They will tell you there is only one other apartment complex in that part of Augusta where they respond to problems more.
