We lived at Camdent for almost 2 years and couldn't wait to move when our transfer came thru. The management team could care less and are the prime problem of the decline of what was once a great place to live. Be careful if you move here since they are not doing background checks and we have seen many transient characters coming and going from the apartment that was next to our and when we advised management...oh well...no care was shown. When someone cooks next door, you can smell it coming thru the walls and then there are the people who grill 24/7 and so you cannot enjoy your patio. The patios are jammed with all kinds of bikes and what not which gives the place an awful appearance and the security doors are constantly left open which allows anyone to enter the hallways which are in poor order. Need I say more....don't move here!

I lived here for 9 months in building 316 from 2008-2009. The apartment itself was OK, although we had numerous problems with the toilet backing up and the fire alarm malfunctioning and going off in the middle of the night. My biggest complaint is with the lady who is currently the property manager (forget her name). There were 35 days left until my lease expired and I went to her to let her know I would not be renewing since I was moving out of state. Her response was that I would have to pay for an additional 10 days more than the original lease ending date since I did not give her 45 days notice, which came to around $350. I told her that I was unable to stay an additional 10 days and had already made plans to leave on the last day of my lease. Her response' "Well in the lease is states 45 days notice is required". Yeah, great way to treat your tenants. As if it would have made any difference to her whether I came in the week before to notify her or not.

I also asked if we could at least split the difference and I would just pay for an extra 5 days, but she wouldn't budge. She then said that since I was leaving the apartment early she was going to send the cleaning/painting crew in the day after I leave, even though I was still paying for the empty apartment. I asked her why I wasn't at least given a notice to inform me that 45 days left on my lease was coming up and she had the audacity to say I was given 3 notices (which is a complete lie, I received every notice they gave for towing charges and the "parties" they would have, but never about the days left on the lease). I told her I was going to post this incident online, to which she laughed and responded "what are you going to say, that you were held to what you signed in the lease'".

So that's my story. The property manager could have let my lease end on the date we had originally signed with, but instead chose to squeeze another $350 out of me even though she knew the apartment would be empty. Good thing I didn't go in another week later or I would have been out another couple of hundred dollars. This shows that her main responsibility is getting as much money out of the tenants as possible. She had the choice between letting a tenant leave happily after a nine month lease or **** them off and take a few more hundred dollars out of them. I would advise anyone currently living there to watch out for these tactics and any dealings with this property manager.

Camden was OK when I first visited and one of their nicer Sales people showed me around. It no longer is. One good thing about this place is that Meijer and Dominics as well as Stratford Square Malls and the expressways are near. But apartment management from Metric Properties are not well managed. They take their own sweet time to respond to your needs or repairs. BE CAREFUL IF YOU WANT A DISH INSTALLED. Only apartments that face one way are allowed to have dishes. The rest of you can take a dive off a cliff - they don't care - because wires have no place to enter your apartment unnoticed if your apartment faces the wrong way. And they don't volunteer this information. All in all you might look elsewhere if you want some peace. <P>
