The only good thing 3915 N. Southport has going for it is the location. The crappy building is an eyesore on a beautiful street. From the moment we moved in we had problems.
1)We received the keys from the prior tenants who made the apartment a disaster. When we asked Harmony Management to change the locks they REFUSED told us we had to do it ourselves.
2)The apartment came to us as is (a complete disaster) from the previous tenants. Harmony Management WOULDN'T come in and paint much less clean. We spent over $150 of our own money on cleaning supplies and paint.
3)The apartment itself is in horrible condition. At least one window out of every room had a screen missing which Harmony wouldn't fix. Although, especially in the winter, it didn't matter if the screen or the storm window was down, because you can feel the wind blowing from all the leaks in the windows. Our refrigerator had a leak from (I'm guessing) the freezer that leaked into the door and all over our food, through the bottom and down to the wood floor, which it was rotting out. We REPEATEDLY asked Harmony to fix this, as our food was in question. We started complaining in April, as of move out on Aug 1, it still wasn't fixed. If you asked them to fix anything it took multiple calls and "work orders to be placed" to have them fix anything.
4)The Management itself is a joke. Calls are never returned and if you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone, its the assistant who doesn't relay messages correctly or at all to the landlord.
5)When the Landlord came through to look at our apartment he told us our ac unit was leaking and eroding the phosphorus between the bricks on the outside of the building. After speaking to at least 3 contractors, who all laughed at us because its impossible, we decided the Landlord was trying to scam us out of more of our security deposit (not a huge surprise). The Landlord also left his key ring of every key to every apartment he owns on our kitchen table....Let's talk about security issues:
6)The front door of the building was broken and not fixed which resulted in our neighbors apartment being broken into. When the lock was finally fixed, the Landlord never gave us new keys. It also took weeks for them to give the Post Office the new keys so we could receive our mail.
This is only part of a long list of issues we had. If you have any brains you won't rent from ANY building that Harmony Management owns.
