--Security: bums frequently hang around outside and in the nearby neighborhood, even at 7am when you are leaving for work. Doorman? What Doorman? If there is one on duty, he's sleeping the office or chatting it up with one of the tenants IN THEIR APT.
--Parking: Buyer beware, only part of the "garage" you pay for is covered, so most likely your car will be covered with snow in the winter time. And be careful walking up the parking garage ON THE LAYERS OF ICE to get to your car.
--Appearance/Upkeep: The apartment itself is nice, but the hallways look straight out of some old creepy motel. The guy who leased me my apt said they would all be remodeled (that was almost a year ago and they haven't changed). The laundry room is not the happiest place in the world either (it's in the basement), not to mention the dryers don't dry your clothes and there are ALWAYS a couple of machines "out of order" (and it's $1.25 to wash, and $1.25 to dry).
--Management/Office Staff: Hahaha, wow. Let's just say the office manager is THE rudest woman I've ever met in my life. I was scared to go get my packages when she was working. And the Property Manager? Not a guy I'd want to be friends with (or let my sister to date). Yikes. Don't piss him off.
--Maintenance: Were both elevators working when you went to see the apartment? If so, it must have been your lucky day. There is NO freight elevator, so you have to use one of the two elevators to move your stuff in and out. The office will tell you that you can use one to yourself while you are moving (if both are working that is), but don't be fooled--there will probably be someone moving at the same that you'll have to share it with. Oh the joy when you are paying movers to stand around with you and wait for the elevator. Awesome.
--Overall Rating: Yes, the views are great and the apartments themselves are pretty nice, but it's definitely not worth your money. Some of the tenants are a part of "government housing," which means the goverment pays most of their rent. This leads to one thing--sketchy neighbors!!
They overexaggerate some of the amentities too in the descriptions of the building: The sundeck? It's on the second floor (not exactly your normal location for a mid-rise). The fitness center? Please, it's a joke. And parking is absolutely horrible in the area, so if you have a car and will put up with everything else I just mentioned, you better budget to drop an extra $150 a month for a parking spot in the "garage," where you'll enjoy brushing the snow off of your car every morning.
Don't rent from these people. Many many complaints from tenants have been made and the management company doesn't seem to care. You can find something nicer for the money (I did).
