Warning: Rampant Burglaries!!!

i'm a current tenant of museum walk, and my apartment was recently burglarized. but, what i found most shocking of all (well, i guess it is to be expected) was the level of dishonesty and the outright willingness of the resident manager, SHANASHA POWELL, to lie through her teeth with a straight face and a smile to avoid having to disclose to the community of residents the recent surge of burglaries and the true state and integrity of the building. in truth, there have been seven burglaries in total, but four in the recent past (one in may 2006, one in september 2006, and two in october 2006).

only recently (10/24/06) did ms. powell decide to post a notice publicly throughout the building warning the residents - and only of the most recent burglary, at that. i believe it was done only now in the underhanded desire to avoid scaring off the wave of potential renters that come through the building in the early spring to early fall months and also the coinciding wave of current residents whose leases tend to expire within the same time period; ALL DONE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE RESIDENTS' SECURITY AND PROPERTY. and what was most laughable about ms. powell's pathetic attempt at preventing future burglaries was to urge the residents to be collaborative and "to be on the lookout for suspicious activities" and unfamiliar faces. however, does she and tlc management company expect us to accost every single unknown person we run into in the public spaces of the building??? if she thought this to be an effective strategy, then why did she not inform us after the first burglary?? or the second??? or even the third???

if, however, ms. powell and the management company for whom she works was honest and responsible and weren't solely concerned about their bottomline, it is my firm and sincere belief that at least three out of the four burglaries of the recent past could have been avoided through precautionary measures, as prior to the incident none of the victims thought there really was the potential for a burglary as we all live on the seventh and ninth floors of the building (the thief/thieves came in through our windows via the fire escape and one busted through the front door, by the way).
