Review for Lakeview Associates Inc Apartments

I am finally in the process of moving out...Thank God!

First, the pros:
The location is fantastic! Easy access to multiple buses that go north/south and east/west. It is a 5 minute walk to the lake. There are also all kinds of bar and restaurants nearby...but the building is far enough off of Diversey that you don't hear much of traffic.

Now on to the cons:
The rent is far too over priced. Especially when the economy is in such poor shape. They wouldn't come down on rent when it was time to renew the lease. I was able to fund MUCH better deals in the same area. The laundry in the building is far too expensive. To wash and dry one load, it's nearly $5. It's a sad day when it's cheaper to have it done by the lb. at the nearest dry cleaner.

The amenities that they advertise are VERY disappointing. I've already mentioned the laundry room. The "roof deck" is just small square area where you can catch some sun...but not this summer! They've have been doing construction or maintenance to he exterior of the building (every morning at 8am) and the roof is closed indefinitely.

The Fitness center? It's basically 3 or 4 machines from the 1970's era. The elevators? It seems like one or both of them are broken 60% of time since I moved in. They should advertise the exercise you get when you have no choice but to walk up 12 flights of stairs!!

They do pay for heat and water. Any time the radiator comes on, it sounds like there's an elf in the radiator pounding the pipes with a wrench. Hopefully you're not a light sleeper during the winter months!

Good luck cooking. Any time you turn on the stove, the smoke alarm is going to go off. I'm sure the neighbors (see below) have made drinking games around hearing all the alarms during dinner time.

Finally, the neighbors. I know management has little control over who is attracted to the units. But it seems like 75% of the tenants are college kids and they're living the college dream. You can hear them through the walls when they come home with their significant other at 3am and feeling a little frisky.

Again, I'll give management credit that they try to keep it clean. But it really is a lost cause. Friday and Saturday night, you better expect to see red cups and beer cans strewn about in the hallways and elevator. Based on the smells in the hallway, the no-smoking (tobacco or the wacky tobacky) is more of a suggestion.

All and all, I would not suggest leasing in this building...even if they offered me $200 to sucker them in!!

Oh Man, You're not kidding! I took a look at this apartment today and one of the elevators and roof deck are shut down. The office lady couldn't give me a reasonable date for when the elevator will be fixed or when the roof will be back open. Don't waste your time
