Lincolnshire West is a great apartment complex. Maintenance is extremely quick to respond to all requests, the apartments are in great shape for the price, and the pool is amazing during the summer. Over all Lincolnshire one of the best complexes near campus (NIU).
Only thing I would worry about. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE RENT PAYMENT. The page on their website to pay your bills (http://lincolnshirewest-apts.com/residents/pay-rent/) IS NOT ENCRYPTED. Good luck with your credit card information after you hit the submit button. The internet is a scary place. Its nice to see they are doing so much to protect their residents credit card information. If you do a little browsing you'll notice this is the case for all online rent payment pages for © 2012 Axiom Properties, Inc.
Lincolnshire is a great apartment complex on the good side of town, just make sure you pay your rent in person.

The rent is pretty high. You only have to pay electric. They allow cats, but you have to pay quite a bit extra. I live in a 3 bedroom so I have the upgraded stove and cabinets, and we have a dishwasher. The rooms are pretty big, and we have a huge walk-in pantry which is nice for storage. Anytime we had to call maintenance, they were at our apartment within an hour.
Heat is gas so we don't have to pay for it, but it doesn't work in the bedrooms. We have our heat set to 85, and the living room is around 75, but the bedrooms are freezing! It's not always easy to find parking by our apartment, and there's broken glass in the lot that isn't getting cleaned up. The lot is confusing for visitors. The back steps are very slippery in the rain and with ice, but they won't put anything on them to fix it. I fell down them multiple times so I stopped using the back door at all. The $8 garbage fee isn't included in rent, but you have to pay it. They also increase rent by a lot each year. Ours is $1045 next year, and I'm sure that still won't include the garbage fee.

I lived in Lincolnshire West for 3 years and I never really had any problems. During the school year, it you did not arrive in the complex before 11pm, you may not find a parking spot exactly where your apartment is. It was quiet most of the time and it really does feel like its own separate world.

I lived at Lincolnshire West the entire time I was a student at NIU. I loved it. The apartments are very nice and spacious and within walking distance to campus. The management is very professional, and every maintenance request I put in was fixed the same day. It's quiet, clean, and safe. There's plenty of parking and even an outdoor pool. It's quiet lifestyle so no one will be blasting their stereo. Overall, it's a great place to live. <P>

Lincolnshire West is the best place to live in DeKalb. The people who work here are so generous and professional. If something needs to be fixed in the apartment the guys are here within the hour. I have lived in Mason Properties.... which was horrible. Compared to Mason, Lincolnshire West is amazing. And there is a pool! They treat you like a person, not just some stupid college student they can take advantage of because we don't know any better. Lincolnshire is the place to be!!! <P>
