Review for Parkside Drive Apartments

My husband and I moved just last June of 2008. When we first looked at the apartment building we were told that they were doing some updating and would continue to do so through the fall.

Since we have moved in they have replaced the old windows with energy efficient and they work great! They keep the heat in so well that we haven't had to turn on our heater once yet this winter.

They have started spraying again because of the roaches. We did complain to the office about that and so did many of the other tenants. Since moving in I've only seen around six roaches but that's enough for me. Haven't seen one since they started to spray the apartments though.

We had some loud neighbors living above us and some living next door. The ones above us were kicked out because of the complaints against them. Playing music too loud, throwing garbage off the balcony and lots of parties...ect. The ones next door are gone now also so it's much quieter now. The loud honking also stopped when the neighbors left.

The roof has also been replaced along with the siding. The basement is going to be the next thing to get fixed up along with the flooring/carpeting in the hallway. They are replacing the storage units in the basement but are also tacking on a $50 a month fee to people who want to use them. With all the closet space inside the apartment we've just been keeping our things in our apartment anyways so we won't be using the new storage units.

I've only been in the basement once since moving in and it was scary then anyways but that probably had more to do with the tornado sirens and storm that was going on then with the actual basement.

My husband though says the washer and especially the dryer don't work that well so we take our laundry down the street to the laundry mat. It saves time getting it all done at once anyways. Have talked to the landlord about the machines and he said that as soon as the contract with the company is up then they will be putting new machines in.

It took us a week to get into our apartment because of the repairs they were doing. They put new tiles in our bathroom and new fixtures. They also put in a brand new stove and I believe the toilet was new also.

One of the reasons we picked this place was because of the security doors. Some tenants do put things in the doorway to stop the door from locking which can get quite annoying because then we get people in here putting fliers on our doors.

One thing I hope they do change soon is the intercom system. When people ring our bell sometimes it's hard for us to hear them and usually they don't hear us at all.
