Apartment Reviews for Park Ridge Commons - Des Plaines

I recently moved to this apartment community from Wisconsin.. I loved the apartment the minute I walked thru the door, ever since then if an issue came up the office handle that to my satisfation. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Any maintenance work is taken care within 24 hours and maintenance staffs are wonderful to work. The property manager is a really gem of a person she keeps her promise what ever she committed. Before my moving I read some reviews about parking problems but I didn't face any parking problems during my stay. This apartment community is best place to live around desplaines , very close to all shopping malls and grocery stores. If you have selected this apartment for living then you have taken a good choice.

I have been living for over a month now. Some of the office staff is very rude. I almost thought of not getting this place because of the leasing agent I was working with. They clean up the place very good when you move in. They paint over all the stuff that the old tenant left behind. If you really look at the things, its not top of the line or as they call it "luxury". It is way too hot in the apartment and you are not able to control your own heat. You have to open the window to get the dryness out of the rooms. If its a luxury apartment, you would think they should have updated heating/cooling system. There is only one air conditioner in the unit and that is in the living room. How can the cold air get to the bedroom? I am not sure how it is in the summer yet since I have been here only 1 month. I am starting to see moths flying around. Not sure yet where it is coming from. I am only seeing one at a time now. The laundry room is horrible. The washing machines are so tiny and outdated that you have to do 2-3 loads to get your clothes washed. And the cost is $1.25 per wash. The dryer is useless, you have to dry atleast twice. Its about time they updated the washer/dryer. The hallways smell and you feel congested when walking through there. The good - nice carpet. fitness room is very good for an apartment complex. Parking is good. Close to everything. Maintenance response. Spacious. <P>

I've lived in PRC for about five years. I'd say my overall experience is pretty good. I liked the fact that the apartments were newly updated but was quite dissapointed to see that the new appliances/windows/cabinetry/etc were of poor quality. Everthing is showing wear or falling apart even though it's fairly new. I was upset that when I moved in the carpet was in pretty bad shape. Overall, the buildings are kept in pretty good shape. It seems the staff cares about it's appearance. As for the staff, I find them really friendly and take care of requests asap. I think the management could do more to prevent some problems- the building fire alarm is inaudible and probably needs to be replaced, some of my maintenance requests have needed to be taken care of more than once, some problems with vandalism in laundry area. The floors are squeaky and I can hear my lower neighbors- although who wouldn't hear screaming kids pounding on the walls and playing basketball or something on hardwood floors. I guess my main complaint is the neighbors and people in general. I have seen some cockroaches but I guess there everywhere- there's always dirty people. I think its pretty safe however someone has broken into people's storage in the laundry area and someone took the "H" logo off my Honda (???). Rude people are everywhere- people seem to think it's ok to honk rather than get out of there cars to get their friends. Some people just keep honking and coming back every so often to honk for someone. Some lovesick Mexican guy plays his music and honks for hours on end for some girl that never comes out. My response: call the cops! They do come quick and this has stopped many people from coming back to honk more. These apartments are pretty good in general, I think most peoples complaints are the people that live there and you will find that anywhere you go. <P>

I recently moved here from Dallas, Tx and have not even seen the apartment before move in date, i did everything over the phone and fax. I was very nervous , as you can imagine. When the move in date came along, i showed up at the office with all my stuff, and no one to help me move. I was very impressed about how my situation was handled, they even had someone deliver my stuff directely to the apartment. I loved the apartment the minute I walked thru the door, ever since then if an issue came up the
office handle that to my satisfation. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.
