Apartment Reviews for Barrington Lakes - Hoffman Estates

Over all we are enjoying living here. We are in a remodeled unit, which I hear is way nicer then those that are not. Unfortunately the inside of the tub-showers are old and skuzzy. They painted right over years of mold & and it shows. Gross! The amenities are nice but can be hard to use as the rules for using them keep changing. There is always some new and nasty note about some infraction of the rules that somebody has done. It can be unpleasant to have to read every time you go to the office-clubhouse. Unfortunately, the office staff is rude and moody for the most part. They never smile or say hello even when you are bringing them your rent which is always paid on time. In fact you are not allowed to give them your rent in person. You are directed to a box in the wall because they can't be bothered with it. Heaven help you if you asked for a receipt. When you go to the office they ignore you or act all put out. I had to think twice about letting them know the water is running non-stop in our toilet. After all it's not my water bill & but I did. They were their usual grumpy selves. I should have ignored it. Lucky the maintaiance guys are nice. Of course it would be nice to get a call prior to them just walking in on you but "they are too busy and don't have the time". Back to the office staff, they like to change the rules almost every day as the mood strikes them. Perhaps a few bad tenants are ruining it for the rest of us but you would think they would try to keep the good ones happy and not alienate us. Today there is a new notice letting us know they will no longer accept UPS or other packages because "it's a courtesy service and some people just don't get it". No reminder notice about rules to try to solve the problem, just your basic "up yours" to everyone. The note was rude and uncalled for not to mention I signed a lease stating they would accept packages. Will I renew my lease? I'm still deciding. Will I recommend to others? I think I'll keep my mouth shut. I don't want to be blamed for any disappointment. <P>
