We put a deposit on the newly remodeled townhouse in February for a June move-in. Apparently they've never made advanced plans. We went for our final walk through 2 days before we were scheduled to move in. We confirmed the rent, which the leasing agent told us was less than we were told in February, however said that we were all set to move in. Then the day before we moved in, they called and said we couldn't move in unless we brought our last two pay stubs, photos of the dogs, and rabies information. Remember, this is the day before we move, so all of our things are in boxes. They couldn't have told us this earlier on?
Then we found out that the rent was really what it was originally quoted in February, and the leasing agent said that we both must have misunderstood her. Whatever, we moved in anyway.
We turned in our paperwork for an automatic debit for rent and the day after it was turned in, one of our accounts was debited rent (15 days early). Everyone in the office denied that it could happen, however when we produced a bank statement, they refunded all the money they took, AND our deposit. So we authorized them to take back the deposit money.
The next month we got our rent bill and it had an outstanding balance of $44.00. I asked the office what we had not paid, and they said that we were fine and they'd take care of it.
The following month they took our rent out TWICE. Which left no money for things like gas to get to work, and the best they could do was tell us that the company was working on it and we'd have the funds returned to our account in 2 days.
Today, we got a letter telling us that we still owe the $44. When I went into the office to ask them, they were of no help and could only offer that we owed $44, however they couldn't tell us what we had not paid.
The complex is gorgeous, the remodel is fantastic, and the maintenance guys have been great, however I would still not move here again because you never know when they're going to decide you owe them more money for no apparent reason at all.
