Apartment Reviews for Carmel Center - Carmel

Carmel Center is a generally okay place to live. That is it though--just okay. It does seem rather overpriced for what you get, as other reviewers have noted. It's probably the most expensive place I looked at, and there's not really much "luxury" to it. Don't get me wrong, they are perfectly nice apartments, but not luxury. Living on the top floor, the noise has not been as much an issue for me, so that might help some. However, beware where your apartment is. The trash compactor is no more than 15 feet from some apartments, and it SMELLS gosh awful on warmer days. Also, there is a dog kennel very nearby, and starting about 7am on the weekends, you can very clearly hear dogs barking almost non-stop, all day long.

Lastly. While the staff is generally somewhat polite, they are certainly not friendly. In my last apartment, paying FAR less than I do here, the staff was very pleasant. Here, it always feel like you are somehow inconveniencing them. The maintenance staff is borderline rude, and seems to not really know what they are doing. They always act as though you're nuts, and not really having any problems, then say they'll "try a few things, and see if any of that fixes it". For simple issues. For the rent you'll pay, I would expect much better in terms of friendliness and desire to help. The office girls are very nice though, and seem to be willing to help.

It is nice and close to things in Carmel however, and the Monon is in walking distance. Overall its not an awful place to live, but if I had to choose again, for this kind of money I think I would look elsewhere.

we moved from Toronto to Indy, loved our Carmel apartment, it was roomy, clean, quiet, with the Monon near by, shopping just minutes away. Just great!
