Not perfect, but... ( 10/25/2012 )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
The day my husband and I moved in on the 6th floor, someone else moved in on the 5th floor and broke the elevator. It took us two, close to three days to get everything in with the elevator working only intermittently. The first thing I put in the oven was a cake, which promptly turned black and caught fire as the thermostat was out on it and 350 degrees was actually 600. The good news in all of this is the maintenance guys put a temporary fix on the elevator (twice, until they could get an expert in) and replaced my stove the same day. Management here cares about you and does everything they can to fix any issues, even at 11pm on a Saturday night. Despite some initial hiccups, I'd recommend Zender Properties and the Marleigh to anyone.

I first moved the the Marleigh at the end of November 2010. I was new to the state and found a job working right in downtown. I didn't have that much money, but I went to the office and asked if there were any units available. Janet took me to do many of the Zender buildings trying to find the one most suited for me and my needs. However not only did she show me the Zender properties, she also showed me around downtown. I finally chose to move into a studio on the 5th floor which faced the downtown city skyline. In May of 2011 I was able to move into another unit in the same building. The transition was totally simple! Janet helped me with that move as well. I got married and my husband came to live with me since I didn't want to leave that downtown city life. Now, we've been here well past the end of our lease and the only reason why we're moving is because we have a baby and space is just not there for us.
That being said, living in the Marleigh has honestly been a life saver for me. I didn't know the area and work was literally like 5 minutes and since I was unfamiliar with the winter in Indiana, dealing with such a short commute during the snowy months was simple because I didn't go very far. From the beginning Nancy and Janet along with the other Zender staff have been more than helpful and more than kind! I had a few issues with my stove - the pilot light would shut off occasionally - but maintenance was always there really fast to turn it back on. Other posts have complained about rude people, excessive noise from residents, and tons of rats/roaches. None of that is true. I was always greeted by name at the office, mere heard a peep from neighbors, they were even super nice, and only during the summer did we ever see a roach. I would recommend living in the Marleigh over all the other buildings because that's all I know. It was so cozy here during the winter, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
