I've been in a few apartments by PPI, so I kind of understand what's going on with them. They are definitely slumlords, so most of their properties are in disrepair and shouldn't be rented. They are rented though, to take advantage of those that don't have a choice because of the affordibility. Also, they will go through any loophole to keep your deposit, and I've heard several people say that they have very good lawyers for a reason. So be aware that the owners are slimy people, and that there staff is often slow or incompetant with very few exceptions. <P>
They do have some nice buildings as well, such as the one I'm in now. If the place doesn't have too many problems when you first look at it (and do inspect thoroughly, like banging on the pipes and seeing how long the hot water takes to come on), and it's clean, it will probably stay that way. Don't depend on them fixing any problems very well though, and be aware that the maintenance staff has high turnover, and some of them will steal from you. I always tell them not to come over unless I'm home, though sometimes PPI doesn't respect that, and sends them anyway. <P>
My main concern with them is heating. My first apartment was with them, and it was freezing with an over the top gas bill. I didn't want to rent from them again because of that, but I had to from the situation, and it turned out great because the apartment has radiators that work very well. Only one of the maintenance people in their whole staff know how to upkeep the system, unfortunately. They weren't coming on easily because they were old, and it took a few days for them to get most of them working (there were a couple they couldn't get to work, it's a large place). <P>
If I ever leave this gem, I would consider going through PPI again. I would choose very carefully though, and talk to all the other people in the complex about what the building is like in the long run. Try to find one of their buildings with radiators, because then you won't pay any high gas bills, and it's free heat. <P>

I Have lived in an apt managed by Peterson & Popham For almost two years now I will be moving at the beginning of May 2006 I will Say that my experience in having rented from Peterson & Popham has been a good one, I can't say much for the office staff (Poor help). But the apt is awsome so awsome my freinds are applying for my place, and I will also include that the maintenace staff very respectful...! <P>

I Recently moved into a apt, Owned or Managed by Peterson & Popham, not far from U of L Campus, and I must say, Its been a nice place, I've recently had to report a problem, with my apt. and I have to say the response I received was great, I had not Hung up from the office, when I had a knock at the door and it wasnt just one but three repair guys at my door, I really appreciate them, I am sorry I didnt get their names but I would like to say........ Thank you... <P>

The Walden bldg, is a great place to rent, I have lived here over 2yrs, and don't plan on moving anytime soon, I would reccommend Peterson & Popham to all.... Thanks for making me feel at home........ <P>

Peterson and popham apartments are well maintained by a very experienced Maintenance man by the name of Jr, i believe. His expertise keeps the appartments in tip top shape. whenever any repairs need to be done, he's right there. I would definitely recommend these apartments to friends and family and anyone else who might be in need of housing. Keep up the great job!!!!!!! <P>

I recently moved in a apt Managed by PPI, I live in the Old Louisville area close to UofL and its shocking to read these reveiws,I have lived here for approx, Six months and love my Apt, the staff i have delt with, Like the Maintenace Jr is very respectful and helpful, I havent had any real problems in my Apt, But when I did give the office staff on 4th Bloom my move in sheet, they responded and repaired all my concerns and even went an extra mile by helping me with getting a better ceiling fan for my livingroom.......PPI staff and maintence keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <P>

I have read the reviews that have been left for PPI, and I am a current renter of one of their properties. The building that I live in has a locking entry door, however tenants that live do not make use of the lock, and leave the back door to the building ajar. Their management and maintenance staff make every effort to attend to my needs in a timely manner, and nothing has ever been stolen from my apartment. When I asked about getting more lighting on the outside of my property, they responded immediately. My advice is to lookers.... PPI has some good properties and some okay properties (You pay for what you get). It is funny how people always complain and just forget about the good things that the PPI has done. They have many properties, great locations, and friednly people.

Whether you are a tenant renting from them or a property owner giving Peterson Popham control of your property, make sure you have a good lawyer ready. If you want to know what's really going on, talk to their maintenance guys.
