Wasps In Our Apartment!

The condition of the apartment when we moved in was okay. Not great, but good enough for a college apartment. The place started out fairly quiet but by the time we left more and more parties were taking place during the middle of the week. Walls were thin so we could hear everything and often the parties migrated to the porches and parking lots.

One of the biggest issues was that wasps set up in the chimney to our fireplace. When we first called about it they just said to light a fire at night to smoke them out. We did this a number of times, but it would only get a few of them and the rest came back. At least 3 times a week we'd walk in to find our cats going crazy over one or two wasps flying around the apartment - I'm just glad they never caught one! What a pain in the ass to have to worry about getting stung every time you go in your apartment. The only respite was during the middle of the winter when it was too cold for them. For a year and a half we dealt with this shit. They would sometimes send out a maintenance man who would spray a little stuff in our chimney and advise us just to keep it closed. But the wasps could squeeze through the cracks and came in anyway. They refused to get a professional out because it would have cost too much money. The whole wasp deal was what finally convinced us to get the hell out of there.

When we did move, it took FOREVER to get our deposit back. First, they said it took 30 days. Then they said they had mailed it . After a bit we called to see where they mailed it - turns out they sent it to our apartment at FAIRWAY VIEW even though clearly we were not living there anymore! They told us they didn't have our new address (though it was clearly written on our yellow copy of the end of lease agreement) so they figured it would be forwarded. Months later we finally got it in the mail after going over their heads and contacting the people that own the complex.

If you ever really want something done in your apartment, the only way to get them moving is to go over their heads. They seem sweet when you sign up, but they are incompetent later on. Now that the restaurant is burned down, I don't see any reason to live there.
