I am going on my 6th year here--three of undergrad and now my third of graduate. I love this place and pretty well know everything that goes on here. When I saw the last posting "Please Don't Move Here", I just had to respond because it is a pack of irresponsible lies. The two most blatant lies can be refuted by accessing the public records: (1)Robberies in the parking lot? Plural? No. The truth is that one tenant here played John Madden Video Football professionally at tournaments. One Sunday he won $600 in Hattiesburg and two contestants there followed him home and robbed him here in the parking lot. That was the tenant's fault and had nothing to do with Teakwood. (2)A unit burned down due to an electriacl problem? No. Nothing burned down. The truth is a tenant left his unit with a candle burning that tipped over and started a fire that burned for about thirty minutes causing cosmetic damage. Neighboring tenants put the fire out with their fire extinguishers before the fire trucks arrived. Again, this was the tenant's fault and is a matter of public record. After these two whoppers, there is no point addressing his other complaints. Teakwood is a great place to live with great management. Unfortunately, anyone can go to sites like this and slander with impunity. If you want to know what Teakwood or any complex is like, I suggest you visit on a week-end and talk to the residents in the parking lot and you will have a much chance of getting accurate information.
