Great, if you love city living! ( over a year ago )

IHL offers awesome loft living with friendly staff and fair rent. You can't avoid the things that come with living in a city- parking difficulties (parking is not in the building and must be purchased separately), street noise (sirens and car horns are constant), and no outside space (courtyard or playground). Despite this, we loved living in IHL and were sad to leave. We felt safe because the building is locked and it is in a relatively safe part of downtown Baltimore- it is near the university/hospital and Camden Yards, so it is patrolled regularly. The management and staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

We have lived here 6/06-2/07, and overall we have been happy here. Compared to other apartments in this area, you get a very large apartment for your money. The apartment is one large room with a loft, which is fine as long as privacy isn't an issue with your roommates. We visited MANY apartments downtown before deciding on this one, and for this price you could get a tiny one bedroom (at Camden Court, Centerpoint, etc.) anywhere else.

Pros: -location, space, low rent compared to others, apartment in decent shape, overall quiet building, security during the night, great location if you are a student @ U of Maryland, or are an Orioles fan

Cons: -Marriott parking going to be $150 a month, street is less but no guarantee (saturdays have to move your car or pay all day), laundry can be a problem with people being inconsiderate, "gym" is limited and from the 60's

As far as crime we moved from Maine and we feel safe here. We walk to federal hill and inner harbor at night, however, not later than 12. We have seen reports/complaints of cars getting broken into, but we haven't had a problem (don't leave anything visible in your car that someone would want to take& aka CDs, cloths, GPS, coins etc) Never had a problem with maintenance. Our apartment doesn't face Paca or Lombard but we have low noise from city life...aka ambulances and we are only on the 3rd floor.

Long review but other reviews seem to state more option than fact.

...The layout of the apartments are classic. High ceilings and exposed brickwalls that are just beautiful. Really a great apartment. I've lived in 5 different apartments in Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD in the city and this was the best.
PROS
- High Ceilings
- Excellent Customer Service
- Incredible Location (Right next to Camden Yards)
- Laundy Facilities excellent (Seen some bad ones)
- Heating/Central Air in each unit is solid
CONS
- If you don't like living in the city and the noise associated with it, move to the SUBURBS.
- Heating bills in the winter are just absurd. One 900 sq foot place ranged from $150 to $175
- At times can actually hear other people in other apartments through the vents and walls. Strange. Not too common but occurs.

pros: extremely spacious; great, friendly staff; nicely situated; actually will sign and deliver packages into your apt for you if you're not in...which is extremely convienent, not too expensive for downtown living
cons: because it's so spacious, heating and cooling tends to take a lot more; sirens all the time; loud vehicles rock windows and shake apt alittle bit
had a problem with my fridge when i first moved in but was taken care of right away...even replaced the fridge with a brand new one....all in all, i highly recommend this apt
