Apartment Reviews for Sail Cloth Factory
Don't make the mistake....

My dear apartment hunters...is about 5AM in Baltimore, the temperature outside is about 26 degrees Fahrenheit and inside my apartment feels like 30 degrees!!! The heater is on 76 degrees and the bill proves it!!! I just opened a $300 hundred dollar BGE bill for half a month worth of heating...(we were out for Christmas)... Right now I am so upset, when I first moved in the Project Manager (PAT) told us that the energy bill was going to be reasonable...(what a joke!!!) Is $180 dollars per month a reasonable energy bill for a student who lives with a roommate and spends all day at school??? and that includes turning off the heater and the water heater when we leave the place to save a little bit of energy??? I am going to tell you guys what I should have while ago... Let's start with the crime around this area...check the police crime map and you will see that this place is right in the middle of assaults, robberies, rapes, and other crimes...the UMB has a police station on the corner but is always closed, I have never seen a cop leave or enter the office, and some the robberies have occurred during daylight...(four kids got their wallets taken and their jewelry). The place is located in an inconvenient spot, there is no parking for friends, there are no grocery stores or pharmacies close by...they are located in downtown, no parking and they close at 6pm. There is a Wal-Mart, but the quality is really bad, no produce and a terrible parking area full of thugs and shady people. let's talk about the place, the problem is simple...design or lack of it! The apartment is about 750 S.F. with high ceilings, the ducts are not insulated, the HVAC unit is under designed and the Hugh windows have gaps in between the frame so the air (with your money) just flows about of the window...not to mention the mold that is growing between the glass, the rubber seal and the metal frame. I have had energy bills for up to $675 dollars for one month. I keep telling the office about this problem, but they are not interested in fixing it, but they always are willing to collect your rent, even when I still have the same problems... The other problem is the carpet and what is underneath it! When I vacuum the floors, I noticed that dust keeps resurfacing, the problem is the subfloor of the apartment has dust and a cementicious dust like (gray powder) that covers your furniture no matter how many times you clean the house...I pulled off the carpet in a corner of my apartment, and there where pieces of concrete, dust and dirt under the carpet instead of a padding sub base. The ceilings leaks, and the problem continues because they just painted over the area where the water filters thru...two days later, there is a new streak of paint bubbles and a rusty like color on the brick walls, specially around the window. The rent and parking is incremented on a yearly basis (about 20%). They don't tell you this, but you'll soon find out after the bill... There is nothing, I repeat, there is nothing Luxurious about these apartments...Industrial maybe a better word...or Rough apartments...the carpet is low grade, the kitchen counters are particle board with plastic laminate (not granite or marble), the range and fridge are not stainless, there is cheap vinyl on the floors of the kitchen and bath, the walls have no molding, the closets and closet doors do not work...they fall off the hinges or simple get stuck when you open them, they are the folding type that open on their own... the bathroom fixtures are old, with patina and old bathtubs, the toilet has a ring around the bowl...I had to buy chemicals and abrasives to remove some of it... the garbage compactor is cleaned once a week and during the warmer months, the place stinks like garbage because the garbage decomposes while it waits to get picked up...sometimes the hallways smells like someone died... another problem, even though there are some good maintenance people, A very expensive watch was missing from my apartment after a scheduled maintenance appointment...my watch was in my room as usual and after the visit, the watch was gone...I was not able to make an insurance claim because I could not prove it, but the watch was taken and never retrieved...(maintenance has to get a background check, but Osama Bin Laden did too...and look what he did)... The only good thing at this place is the Parking Attendants, they are good people and honest too... Take my advice, stay away from this place, there are many other places worth your honest buck!
