I looked at at least 15 other places before deciding to move to the Standard. So far, I couldn't be happier with my decision. I love that utilities & internet are included. I use a digital converter box + antenna to get local networks, so I no longer have to deal with either BGE or Comcast, which is fantastic! I thought it would bother me not to have a W/D in the unit, but I've actually ended up liking it that way. The elevators are fast, so it just takes seconds to get to the laundry room. There are always open machines and you pay with a card, so no searching for quarters. I love that I can do several loads at once and have my laundry over and done with! I spend about $20 per month on laundry, max. The apartments are a little small for the price, but if you include utilities, it's not a bad value. The high ceilings, crown moldings, and granite counters are all nice, though I wish the apartment had hardwood floors. The small store/deli in the building is very convenient. My apartment is very quiet; I hear an occasional street noise, but never noise from other residents. The place is always immaculate and I’ve never seen a single bug, let alone anything else. I love the gym, free coffee (the machine makes "cappuccinos"), speedy maintenance, and wonderful staff. The manager is very friendly and respectful, greets residents by name, & plans entertaining events. It's a small thing, but I appreciate the courteous signs around the building reminding residents when rent is due, suggesting caution when it’s slippery out, etc. It feels like the management actually cares about you. The majority of the front desk staff are excellent, especially Sharon, who is a joy. It's nice to have someone to accept packages and the building seems very safe/secure. I park my car on the street and so far have not had any problems, though I’ve seem some break –ins. I think it’s hard to avoid that kind of thing completely in Baltimore, but if you keep your belongings out of your car (hide GPS mounts, etc.), I’d be surprised if you had a problem.
