Apartment Reviews for Ashford At Woodlake - Silver Spring

When we first looked at these apartments we were very excited but that has now faded. These apartments are invested with bed bugs and roaches! The hallways never get cleaned unless you call to complain. The lighting in the parking lots is way too dark. I am searching at this time to move ASAP! So dont be fooled by what the leasing office looks like that's just one section of an entire community. Also, the shopping stripe with the
Safeway in it is way too busy and they have lots of accidents in that area and guys hang out at that Exxon gas station.

Avoid the headache! Whoever posted above must work for Ashford. I lived there for a year and regret every minute of it. Castle Blvd has the highest crime rate in Silver Spring consistently. I moved to MD from California and regret the fact that I ended up at Ashford. Even though the rent was paid on time, I received notices from them telling me that I had not paid the rent. I would have to go to the office to show them the receipt they gave me when I paid. The floorboards are creaky and you can hear every step the person living above you makes. There are roaches (no matter what they tell you). When I moved out they tried to charge me for damages that were there prior to me moving in. I refused to pay and they took me to court where I was able to successfully prove otherwise. Either they are incompetent or they are just out-and-out crooks!

If you’re a professional, you do not want to deal with this headache. Please learn from my experience and just avoid it.

Firstly, the apartments themselves are great, wonderful layout and very nicely renovated for the rental price.

The communication from the management team regarding maintenance issues leaves much to be desired however. Yesterday on Thanksgiving we had yellow water coming out of the faucets. Today we had no water. A call to the office informed us they were doing maintenance on several buildings, not in a particular apartment (therefore it wasn't an emergency requiring immediate maintenance). I returned home at 9:30pm last night and there were NO signs informing us of maintenance today. I was unable to take a shower or do laundry to wash my work clothes before going to work. When I left the building, I then saw a sign to notify us of maintenance today - alot of good that did considering it had to have been put up no earlier than 9am, when the office opened. The water was off from at least 11am when I became aware of it, til 4pm. This was a major inconvenience.

FOLLOW up:
I moved away from this roach infested dump. Greatest thing I've done in the past year. I would have total peace of mind, BUT Ashford at Woodlake strikes again even when I am gone! They charged me $200 for very minor carpet damage. I paid the money, sent them the check on time, via certified mail, return receipt. What did they do AFTER cashing the check? They REPORTED ME TO A COLLECTIONS AGENCY!!! Of course, I had no idea. So now, I've got to make sure that (a) the collections agency and Ashford straightens this mistake out and (b) this wasn't reported on my credit report. They are CROOKS!!

I moved from Texas and finding an apartment was a DRAG! I found Ashford on Craigslist, and made an appointment only to regret it. The parking is **** and always jam packed, office personnel is a NIGHTMARE. Brenda, and Shannon are extremely rude, lazy, condescending, and outright apathetic when they make mistakes. It's a lease not worth being tied down to. Seriously, look away. Office personnel comes in to your apartment to do random check in's and criticizes your apartment. Worst EVER! ....seriously, IM MOVING once this lease is over.

Oh, and bugs...yes...YES they're a problem.

I have drug addicts living in my bulding(14015).That have no respect for the children in the bulding.And of course the rental office is aware of this.And among other things you have to twist managements arm to get anything fix around here.Their famous words are"What is your apartment number and someone will get to it"yeah!! right!! For those WHO LIKE LIKE LIVING IN THIS PLACE...WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!!

Getting straight to the point, the apartments are nice - huge room sizes - plenty of closet space. The floor boards in the units should have been replaced when they renovated the complex. I be waiting on the feet of my neighbors upstairs to come through the ceiling. It's even worst when the people living in the unit is carry an excessive amount of weight. I can hear the floor boards screaming daily. Parking is the WORST at night time. The complex has too many abandon vehicles that the management seem to have no control over. They should really consider assigned parking to garantee their tenants a place to park. Even though the lawns are manicured, don't be mistaken and walk in them. The tenants that have pets in this complex make no attempt to clean after their pets. Maybe they think that it is natural ferterlizer. I just wish that the management team did more site visit. Adults and kids constantly leave objects in the doors to leave them open for their convience not realizing that some people want to feel and pay for a secure building entrance. There is good and bad in choosing to live here. Be sure to walk around the potential unit well before you sign anything and make a visit at night to see just how bad the parking situation is for yourself. Hope this helps!

I am a current resident of ashford at woodlake and would like to informe others of what kinda place it really is. Yes castle blv. isnt the safist place in the world, but where is? For the time that I have lived here it hasnt been all bad.
The lies and rasial comments posted on this page anger me. When you post a comment about some one with there full name but choose not revial your own identiy leads me to belive that you are A)a lier B)you dont pay your rent on time and this is a great way to slander or get back at some or C) all of the above...lol.
Also when speaking of crimes like "a dead woman found in the staircase" they might wanna check there facts. I myself when to the property where the insidnet did happen and found that police where very aware of what needed to be done.
The good things I do want ppl to know about here are that its very clean,plesant and is very diverse, and the ppl. at the office really do care. I can only speak for myself.

AREA VERY SAFE, OFFICE STAFF AND MAINTENANCE HARD WORKING GROUP.i LIVED THERE FOR 6 YEARS.

woodlake is a great place to live... no thugs drug dealers, hearing gun shots, muggers, or rapist hanging around the complex not even on the weekends. I also have not seen any mice/roaches in my apartment. I love it here. my safety is not an issue.
I must complain about one thing I am a college student attending GW and is enrolled the masters program and when trying to study the walls are pretty thin so if any loud music is playing or neighbors are arguing I must say you can hear it. thats the only complaint I have about woodlake..
The best of luck to the apartment searchers... and keep in mind most reviews are from bitter people who eigther are late with rent, put out, or just want some attention...
BTW... no i donot work for woodlake apartments. i say this because everytime you disagree with negativity you are accused of working for the complex.

Ashford at Woodlake very beautiful styled apartment complex. Its quiet, peaceful, well kept apartments and grounds. I really enjoy coming home in the evening to very serene community and on the weekends its so quiet you can hear bird sing <P>

Occasional bugs but nothing serious. Maintenance is a bit slow. Very convenient, though. Three bus lines across the street. Haven't had any problems with neighbors. We got one of the new, rennovated apartments. My only complaint is that the floors are paper thin. You can hear everything your neighbor is doing ABOVE you (but not below). If you live here, make sure you get the top floor. <P>

the office staff is not at all good.. they are not responding to the calls.... and they are not talking properly to the people who wants to move in there.... <P>
