I have been a long term resident of Jefferson at Dedham Station (4+ years) and have been very happy living here. I am not saying things have been perfect, but it has been a pleasant place to call home and my neighbors have been great. I live in the main building in a third floor apartment. Over the years, I have had to place severl work orders and have always received prompt service (usually the same day) and the maintenance guy has always been polite and fixed the issue right away. The current office staff is very nice and professional. Whenever I have had to talk to them about my lease or issue, they have always been respectful of me and my needs and truly seem like they care. One of the managers even checked on my apartment one day when I thought I forgot to lock the door on my way to the airport. My neighbors have been pleasant and nice and I hve made a few lifelong friends as a result of living here. I don't get along with everyonewho lives here, but I wouldn't expect to. Some people simply have no respect for where they live but the worker's seem to try very hard to make sure their lack of respect doesn't effect me.
I would and have recommended this to my closest friends.

I lived at Jefferson At Dedham Station for a bit over a year. When I first moved in it was great; everything was working, the staff was nice, the neighbors were quiet, and everything worked. Then Legacy place opened, section 8 housing moved in, and JPI management changed to Greystar.

After this point shopping carts from lazy neighbors were left in the hallways and parking lot after trips to Wholefoods, the couple above us had violent fights late at night, the hot tub tuned yellow-green and remained this way the entire last summer, our electric bill for a 900 sq ft apartment averaged $250-$300 (and now that we have moved is $30-$40/mo for a 1300 sq. ft. apartment w/ air conditioning), office workers often forced an inapropriate social hour upon you when you wanted to do business and get home (trust me, I enjoy socializing as much as the next but this was the kind where you are in a rush, make that clear, and they shoot-the-**** anyway about things you have no interest in).

The most threatening moments for me was one day when I was in the shower getting ready for work and heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was my boyfriend unable to get in with the hotel lock latched, I slipped on a towel and peaked outside. Outside the door I found a man and a women; one a male office worker I knew, and the other a women I had never seen before. They told me today (Wednesday) was mandatory unit inspection (I had received a letter that morning stating inspection was Thursday) I stated that the letter I received stated that inspection was Thursday. I added that if they must inspect today can they come back in 20 minutes after I am dressed. The insisted they viewed the property and tried to push through the doorway. I told them they were being unreasonable and met grounds for harassment and slammed the door. Later that day I received a phone cal from another office worker stating that they had made a mistake and that they were viewing apartments over two days and accidentally went to mine a day early.

During another instance my boyfriend was home alone and I was at work. He head a key turn at the door and the door get stuck on the hotel lock. He went over to the door thinking it was me, and saw no-one in the hallway and the hotel lock pushed open as if the door had opened and then was closed. He called management and they knew nothing of the incident. They weren't even worried or compassionate.

Additionally, your privacy will constantly feel invaded by bi-annual inspections, "filter" changes, water heater checks; regardless of if you are home or not. In the barely over a year we loved there management entered our apartment 5 times. Our belongings were safe and sound, luckily; however, I heard that others had things stolen when different management was present.

Also apparently a drug-dealing murderer lived there and killed someone by throwing them in cement treatment plant; and in the news we learned a prostitution ring was going on in a unit. Lovely.

The place is pretty and has potential, but unfortunately had some major down-falls for us. Dedham and Legacy place were great; its just the people around us and the high prices that got to us.

We now live in a multi-family house, are saving hundreds a year, and are happier than ever. We feel safe, love our home, and have access to the commuter rail.

If you chose Jefferson At Dedham Station, be sure to invest in a hotel lock for safety.

Lived at Dedham Station for a couple years now. Would love to find somewhere else but the location is good, thats pretty much the best thing they have going there. The people in the office are a friendly, but not effective management. The other tenants can cause problems and there are frequent car break-ins. If you can find another place to live I would recommend it.

I live at Jefferson at Dedham Station and have been here for just over 2 years. I love my apartment, its big and the closets are even bigger! I always joke that I can make another bedroom out of my bedroom closet. I live on the top floor so have a gas fireplace which is really nice, especially since I don't have to pay to use it. My gas is covered with my rent, which means no heat bill over the winter. =)
Thr maintenance guys are great, they are always friendly and fix any problems right away. The housekeeper is amazing - i have never seen someone work so hard. The office staff is wonderful, they are always nice when I stop in. Sometimes its hard to get them on the phone right away, but when I go down to see them I can understand why. The office is always busy and they give you their undivided attention when you are there. They have always called me back though when I leave a message. Since I am on the yop floor I can't really speak to noise because I don't have anyone above me, but I never here my next door neighbors.
I do have to say parking is great! I have never had a problem with finding somewhere to park near my door. My friends never have problems either when they visit. I have to say, I would and have recommedned it here.

I typically don't write reviews, but felt thatI needed to share. I have lived at jefferson at Dedham Station for just over 2 years and have loved every minute of it. My apartment is beautiful, the way the bedrooms are on opposite sides are perfect since I live with a rommmante. The design gives us each our own space to retreat to. I have an apartment with a balcony and love sitting out there during the nice weather. Parking has never been an issue, my roommate works odd hours and is always able to find parking when he comes home from work at night. Since we moved in we have only had a handful of reasons to call the maintenance guys, but when we did they came up on the same day and fixed the problem right away. Tehy are always nice when I see them in the halls and seem to never stop working. The housekeeper is amazing! He keeps the buildings spotless, despite it being a never ending job! The officce staff has always been really friendly when I call the office about anything. As I said my roommate works weird hours and I travel a lot for work so it is great they they will hold our packages in the office until we can pic them up. The last place I lived at wouldn't do this and I had to go pick them up all the time which was a major pain. The manager is young but she knows what she is doing, everytime I have had an issue/complaint she has always responded quickly and has resolved it completely. You can tell she loves what she does and takes pride in the place. The best thing of all is during my 2 years here, my rent has not increased crazily! I hear horror stories from my friends who are hit with a rent increaase of $300 dollars when their lease is up, but I guess Jefferson doesn;t do that becaue I have not been hit. As long as things stay the same I will be here for a few more years until I buy a house.

I am in love with my apartment itself, I really couldn't ask for a better floorplan or quality apartment. Sometimes I get a little nervous at night about safety since I'm a young woman living alone, but I haven't actually had any reason to feel nervous, I just don't really like that anyone could drive/walk in to the parking lot. I have only had good experiences with the office staff. I thought legacy place would add intolerable traffic, but it has been totally fine, plus it is nice to be able to walk over there and walk around or grab some food. my only real complaint is the noise element. this past weekend what sounded like a million obnoxiously loud young kids were in the halls weirdly late at night. also unless the tenant living above me weighs over 300 pounds i don't really understand why his or her walking sounds so loud all the time. not to mention i can hear EVERYTHING they do, which i find funny but i imagine it would be awkward if little kids were listening. the perfectness of my apartment makes up for the noise though! i would totally recommend it.

I have to say I am in shock after reading the posting on this site. I have lived at Jefferson at Dedham Station for just over 2 years and have never experienced anything like what is outlined in other posts. I felt I had to come on and share my experience because it looks like someone has it in for the management staff based on the posts and their dates (every time someone says something good someone says something bad).
1) Safety - I have never not felt safe coming or going from my apartment, even at night. I am a single female who lives alone and never worry about not being safe. There are lights all over the place in the parking lot and my neighbors always know what is going on so I am not concerned with anything happening. The office has always been upfront if something did happen on site. When I moved in I heard about the "prositution ring" so I asked - come to find out they were there for less than 2 weeks before management found out and kicked them out. Sounds like they keeo their eyes open to me. I also asked about the Hernandez guy who committed suicide - he wasn't even a resident!!!
2. Parking is great! I have never had a problem finding a place to park when I come home at night from work. I work weird hours and often don't get home until 10 or 11 at night and I still find a place close to my door.
3. Appearance - love the feel of the buildings, maintenance just finished painting all the doors in my hallway and it looks great!
4. Office Staff - they are always so nice when I go down and seem to truly care. It seems like they know everyone by name - how can they "fake" that...
5. Maintenance - they are wonderful - always respond right away and fix it the first time. Great group of guys!
6. Unit - I love my home!
7. Noise - There is some noise from my neighbors but not a ton, I have lived in other apartments where I could here them in the bathroom, I can't hear that here.
8. Overall - I love my home!
If you are looking, I would recommend checking it out and making your own decision. As I said it looks like someone has a grudge...

Ask management about the asian prostitututes and the assaults that have taken place on the premises also when you come to these "luxurious" apartments.

Maybe you would like to live amongst the Section 8 tennants who dominate the apartment and who have crippled the local schools (taken from an earlier review)

Please stay away for your own safety. I just found out about the above and will be giving in my notice in the next month. Management is a disgrace!

I am a current rsident at Jefferson at Dedham Station. All in all the apartments are nice. There is a problem with noice. I don't feel that there is any real noise barrier from one apartment to the next. You can hear everything going on in the hallway and everyone in the hallway can hear everything going on in your apartment. Also there are quite a few tweens and teens whose parents let them rome the hallways. They tend to be in large packs making a lot of noise and throwing whatever trash they may have in the hallways. Noise is definately my biggest complaint. The onsight gym is nice, but there is very little equipment and you have to time it just right so that there is equipment available to use. I do feel the rent here is a little high and some of the tenants are a little sketchy. Reading these reviews is the first time I have heard anything about section 8, but seeing the quality of some tenants here I can see it. Most of the tenants here are very friendly and personable, you just have those select few that you have to watch out for. The office staff is nice, but many of them seem very plastic and artificially nice, but the maint. people are all very nice. The Legacy Place they built is nice to walk to and have here, but on that some note there really are not that many stores there and if you want to really do some shopping damage, it is not the place. Traffic getting in and out of the apartment complex is absolutely horrible. Before this mall was built, around the holidays, it would take you 45 minutes just to drive the 1/8 mile from rt 1 to the apartment complex. With the addition of this mall, I am not looking forward to driving anywhere this holiday season. If you dont drive and you just use public transportation, this is a great location, but if you drive, it's not so great.

I highly recommend this property because I have received nothing but the best service and respect of management as well as the maintenance staff. The property is kept up extremely well and the residents are friendly. It is steps away from the commuter rail and the new Legacy Place. If you can find a vacancy here you would be wise to live here. And it is pet friendly!

I have lived at this property for over two years now. I have met alot of very nice people who genuinely care about this community. The office staff, and maintainence workers go over and above to assure that the residents are comfortable, and happy with their apartment homes. Workers are there early morning until late night most days to ensure that the property is well kept. The office staff is pleasant and very professional. They know all residents on a first name basis and see to it that all residents requests are met. Yes, I do hear a very few people who complain about certain issues around the property, but these issues are small, and the people complaining are not going to be happy anywhere. They chronically make issues and thrive on stirring up drama, and the office has many other issues to attend to. I recommend this property. It has a great location. Close to many major highways, newly constructed shopping facility, the train station is directly across the street, and ample free parking. Pets are allowed, and welcomed. The are pet waste stations located throughout the community. The amenities are great. There is something for everybody, pool table, movie theatre, gym, pool and hot tub. So, for those that have an issue with this property, they should move out instead of constantly bit*hing about the place. It is great stopping by the great room in the morning to get a coffee and choc chip cookie and see neighbors smiling faces and the office staff greetong everyone who goes by with a pleasant "good day!" All in all Jefferson Dedham has a neighborly feeling and I and many other residents are happy there!!!!

Okay, I am a current resident of Jefferson at Dedham Station and I have to advise everyonereading these posts (no matter what property you are looking at) to read between the lines!
I have lived here for 2+ years and have never had a problem with the office staff or the property. Obviously the people writing the comments have a personal vendetta against someone, they even point him out personally. In my opinion you shouldn't let your personal feelings for a person reflect on how they do there job. Because that is the truth it is a job for them. Yes they go home at the end of the day, but so do you. I would think everyone should understand the need to leave work and go home. There is a 24 hour emergency number that you can call for emergency requests so they are there if you need them. I have called this 2 in my 2 years here and always had my problem solved that night. If there is a situation that you think warrants police- then yes call 911! That is common sense, what is the management suppossed to do at that point. Where ever you live there is always a chance of soemthing happening, it can't be avoided unless you live in a bubble, it can even happen in quite cul de sacs in rich neighborhoods.
The office has always gone above and beyond my expectations whenever I need them, they have always been nice and always say hi.
I would recommend to anyone to come and see for themselves. You can tell when you first walk in the type of people who live and work here. I have aksed lots of questions and have always been given honest answers.
My last word of advice - don't always believe what you read because I love my home and would recommend it to everyone!

Stay away from this property!
Management lacks common sense, simply don't care about their tenants! They will greed you with smiles just to sucker you in but don't trust them...never return phone calls. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A HOLD OF SOMEONE IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES!!!!
Staff - BRANDON will lie and make up stories that are not true, once confronted and reported to upper management, no apologies were ever received.
Dumpster is constantly overfilled with garbage all over the place! Dog **** is everywhere...simply nasty!
To many section 8 tenants, i don't feel safe in this community. Simply stay away and take your money else where !

I used to work for a property management company up until 2006. When I moved to Dedham and into this property, only building one was complete. So, I have seen a lot of people come and go. As for the place becoming the "ghetto", guess what? As long as a person passes the criminal and credit check and the income qualification, you can't not let them rent - even if you know they are "ghetto trash". It's called fair housing and it's illegal. On top of that, even if they don't qualify income-wise, if they have a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, or even a friend who does income qualify, and they are willing to stick their neck out as a guarantor for this person, then gues what folks, you have to let them move in. It's the law. I don't like it, you don't like it, but it's the law. Do you think the people in the office want to loose their jobs or get sued because we want them to break the law to satisfy our desire for them to discriminate? Get real.

To the person who wrote on 12/21/2008... I have never smelled a "stench" in the hallway, but when you refer to people's cooking being the cause, I think I know what you are getting at. Either way, that's not management's fault and you should take it up with the occupants of that apartment if you don't like it and ask them to seal their door when they are cooking. What I don't get is how can a stench be caused by incompetence by mangement?
As for rent being raised, I'm afraid that happens at every property, under every company, in every state, and it happens annually. That's life. They pay part of our utilities and utilties rise, the cost to run the place rises, the supplies needed rises, and where does the money comes from? Rent. It's not free. Get used to it. It happens every year, everywhere.
As for snow removal, they have done an excellent job every year, working non-stop 24 hours around the clock. If you feel they are "playing" with a bobcat rather then working, then I think you should definitely report it to the office so they can talk to whatever company they use and resolve the issue rather then write a negative review on here as if it is somehow their fault.
As for dog poop and people not picking it up, when you see someone doing it, call them out on it and embarrass them or report them to the office so they can be fined.
Now, the "ghetto" problem. This one I love. Like I said, they can not discriminate as long as the people meet the criteria and a certain amount of the apartments by MA law have to be low income. How do we know that the management company goes over that quota? Highly doubtful they would want to. I know for a fact they have a waiting list for the low income apartments because I know someone waiting to get in. And she's not ghetto at all. She's elderly and white. Low income doesn't always mean ghetto. The waiting list to get in has been a year so far. With that said, it's highly unlikely they are going over the quota. We, as residents, only have ourselves to blame for the condition of this property. The parents of these bratty *** kids let them run around the halls causing all kinds of destruction. Carving in the sheetrock, drawing on the walls and elevator. People prop the doors open and break them and then ***** that they are broke. The condition of the property has been caused by US! So blame yourself and your neighbor!
We have ghetto *** blacks and black wannabes, white trash whites, and everything in between walking around this property like their crap doesn't stink, littering all over the place, causing destruction to the buildings, elevators and buildings and then taking it out on the office for the condition it's in. HELLO! Confront your neighbor and tell THEM you disapprove of their actions and those of their children. What kind of parent lets their kids run all through the halls unsupervised destroying things? Or lets them throw balls in the parking lot that hits other peoples vehicles with no care in the world? That isn't their car to be playing on or be damaging with a ball! Control yourself and your children!

To the person who wrote on 12/19/2008...
How can the management staff control construction of of their property? Not their fault. Annoying for everyone. Also, the gates being closed caused a big stink, but they didn't close them. The Town of Dedham did. Call them and ask them and take it up with them and them put the blame where it belongs and then go down to the office and give them and apology for lying.
As for the kids running around, again, why don't you confront the parent and tell them you disapprove or better yet, call child services and let them know about these little untrained brats.
About the safety issues. There was NO murder here, it was a suicide and it wasn't even a resident, it was a friend of a resident. Again, shame on you for lying. Go apologize to the office again. If you had come down to the meeting the office and police officer had with us, you would have known the facts and what happened. As for the assault, it happens everywhere, everyday, and it's unpreventable and unfortunate.
Management didn't run this place into the gutter, we are running it into the gutter. If we confronted our neighbors and kept a better watch and spoke up, it might be a little better around here. Management isn't here 24 hours. We are.

As for everyone else who complains about the rent and where the dumpsters are located... you knew how much the rent was before you signed the lease. Don't be stupid. Why did you sign it if you didn't like it? And if you didn't like where the dumpsters where, why did you move in? It's a VERY short walk from either building to one of the two dumpsters. Don't be a lazy fat-***.

Oh, and as for no amenties for kids, you knew that before you came here too. So don't ***** about something you good and well knew BEFORE you ever moved in here. Personally, I'd loved to see you move out and takes your kids with you. Bye bye.

As for my satisfaction, I have never had a problem. I think they (as in the management company) had some problems internally with the first staff, but that was remedied. The office staff has changed, but for the better. I love the staff that is here now. The new maintenance is awesome with a VERY quick turn-around, less than 24 hours for a non-emergency. I won't be moving anytime soon and I'm mature enough to know rents change, inflation happens, and buildings don't damage themselves.

I moved to Jefferson at Dedham Station over the summer for a work relocation. I knew I did not want to be in Boston but needed the convenience it offered. I chose Dedham Station because it had everythnig I needed! My apartment is huge, and looked brand new when I moved in. Having the train right across the street is wonderful because I usually have to go into Boston for work, I can't wait until they put in the walkway in the spring.
I have had a few maintenance requests since living here and they usually are done the same day. The only time I had to wait a day was because I asked them to wait because I have a dog and I wanted to be home. The office is always friendly and professional when I stop in. It seems like they go out of their way to say hi!
The price was definetly higher than I am used to but it is a lot cheaper than living right in the city. I don't mind payig the higher rent because the service is worth it.
