Positive Apartment Reviews and Ratings
quiet and affordable community ( over a year ago )

Hi, I have lived here since 2003-I love it! Arrowwood has allowed me to get back on my feet after a divorce. I don't understand the bad reviews and seriously have had a totally different experience. It almost seems like people are trying to give it a bad reputation for some weird reason. Little kids play in the parks, people hike in the woods, neighbors chat and wave to each other. The office repairs the units when they need to be repaired and the rent is cheap! I am warm in the winter and sit out back in the summer. Love, love, love it here! Only wish there were a few more windows in the unit to let in a bit more sun...wood floors are awesome!

I lived in Arrowwood Hills for most of my life, and I always enjoy returning to see family and friends.
The community is very tight-knit, and you get what you put in. Behind me I had a huge park which I spent most of my childhood.
It has a very diverse community and while it has had its troubles, I can only pray that my children get to grow up in a neighborhood like it.

you know that arroowwod just like emu do not release all there crime data and Observer doesn't show all the crime, mostly property crime data and they even leave some out, i know the number one problem in arrowwood is drugs,an alcohol abuse, and domestic abuse which happen behind the door not on the streets, as for gun shoot i heart them once in awhile in the last ten years and right know there are few "gang" that come out too arrowwwood and few members are asociatie with them, I've seen great improvement in the last 10 year in arrowwood there was a time were gun shoot were common in arrowwood back in the day but even then it wasn't too bad

THIS PLACE IS WORSE THAN THE PROJECTS. THE PLUMBING IS SO OUT OF CONTROL. THEY CHARGE YOU GAS BUT THEY HAVE NO GAS METERS ATTACHED TO THE APARTMENT THEY SAY THEY GET CHARGED ONE BILL DIVIDED UP BY ALL THE TENANTS WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW. THEY HAVE NOT REMODELED OR KEPT UP THE PLACE. ROACHES ARE A BIG PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT EVEN SHOW ME THE APARTMENT BEFORE I MOVED IN. THE MANAGEMENT JUST RECENTLY STOLE 100000 DOLLARS FROM THEM. I DON'T EVEN TRUST THEM AT ALL. PLEASE DON'T MOVE OUT HERE. YOU WILL BE SORRY.
buy the way mostly low life and income African Americans live there, so come up with your own .............. ?

I think the same person has been posting negative reviews of Arrowwood. Some of the reviews have posted information that couldn't be our coop.(no garages,no lease, no individual units on multiple levels)As for crime, there is very little. The Ann Arbor Observer posts a crime map every month and usually there isn't any crime at Arrowwood. To clear up things that were said:A man was killed a few years back it was an isolated incident between two people who didn't live here and unfortunately left a blemish on our community. The car bomb that you may have seen was a scorned boyfriend who chose to send the new boyfriend a message in the form of a molitov(sp) cocktail. There has been a few fires but I think at least one was due to a member falling asleep smoking. We have a couple hundred units here and we that many people living in one area things are bound to happen. That being said I have lived here through my 20's and have never felt un safe. I have never heard gunshots at night or have seen gang roving through the coop at night.
I live in a two floor plus basement townhome with hardwood floors, newer full kitchen, ac, new appliances, new waterheater, new furnace, new roof. I live one mile from downtown Ann Arbor and my backyard is bordered by a wooded city park with a pond and nature trails.I pay less than $500 a month. I know all my longtime neighbors we talk outside while we garden, bbq and wash our cars in our reserved parking spaces. The office has always been receptive to my issues.
The only problem that I would say I have is the maintenance isn't always the best sometimes it takes a few revists. I don't work for the coop btw. I have been very luck to live here and hope you can some day.

Arrowwood is a great place to live. I have read the other reviews and am wondering if they are all written by the same illiterate person. Arrowwood is a family community and a great place to live. I grew up here, and returned as an adult. I appreciate all of the staff and help we receive as members. If you ask for it, you will get it. Arrowwood is member owned, so if people are having bad experiences it is their own lazy fault. Arrowwood is the best.

Last night i hear gun fire! I can't believe it. I saw the police like two HOURS later and then they asked my if i had seen someone running around! i told him no but it was 2 HOURS ago! i was ****** off and I told them they need to do a better job and you know what they told me! I choice to live here I should have checked the crime rating! Can you believe that!!!
To top it off when I moved in my stove didn't work and you know what it still doesn't till this very day and its been 3 weeks! Thank goodness i don't cook or I would be very very hungry and even more ****** off then I am already. The manager swears at people and is a racist. I walked in right as someone else walked out a african american and as they left and i came in she said the N WORD!!! she didn't see me and when she did see me she pretended like she didn't -- Fair Housing needs to arrest her ***!! This is the worst place to live don't believe the review is absolutely HORRIBLE

Although I do not currently live in Arrowwood, I am in the process of applying to live in one of their units. I have many friends who live there (some for 20 years) and have raised, or are in the process of raising their children there. I visit with my friends in Arrowwood several times a year, usually staying for at least a week at a time. I have never once heard a gun shot or heard of any type of break-ins taking place, much less any other type of crime. This is a community filled with young children and their parents, elderly people, adolescents, and everything in between. There are several community gardens that are well tended, and many beautiful gardens that are lovingly tended by the owners of individual units. I love staying in Arrowwood and seeing all the different cultures and age ranges that exist side by side. I sincerely hope to be living in this wonderful, diverse community by the end of this year.

Reading the other reviews I feel as if ive been living in a different space, I guess a lot of your experience about Arrowwood depends on what lot you live in. My experience has been great, my neighbors are wonderful we all know each other, we say hi, it is very friendly and for the most part, very quite. I have heard stories of incidents occurring, but have never seen them. It is a very cultural and racially diverse neighborhood but I think that is a good thing. Its only by living together that we will be able to overcome the stereotypes and the racist assumptions that plague us. I am saddened to see that everyone's experience was not as positive. I have lived here since 2002 and now I am moving out of state, but strangely, I will miss Arrowwood.

I have lived at Arrowwood Hills for twenty years and raised my children here. Arrowwood is a cooperative housing development, which means that each of us is an owner of the complex, so it can only ever be as good as our members make it. So please take into consideration that the negative reviews in this space come from immature people who take advantage of the anonymous nature of the internet. Those of us who have invested our time and energy in this community love it here.

I would like to call attention to anyone seriously interested in this housing cooperative. You will notice that all of the negative reviews come on the same day in many clusters. I suspect that this is one person with a very negative outlook and too much free time (not to mention terrible grammar and spelling). I have family living there and have never once heard a negative thing on their behalf. The community is diverse and thus there are many races enjoying the units, anyone with a problem with it is a bigot. Do not listen to the mad rants of an illiterate and bitter person, choose for yourself.

I moved here in 1976 thinking it would be short term, (next stop California) but found myself loving not only Ann Arbor but Arrowwood as well. We have raised our children here, we've made life-long friends here, and are still here! Arrowwood is a place of community - where the majority of us know our neighbors by name, laugh together, weep together when one of our older members pass, and we look out for each other! This is a diverse 'village' - a wonderful place to raise children - healthy children who can go out into the real world as educated, loving, adults who grew up knowing that the world is made up of many different kinds of people who all have something to offer. As far as crime goes there is very little. In the the 30 years I've lived here I have never seen anyone carrying a gun or a knife, our cars have not been vandalized, and no one has broken into our home. Love it here!
