This apartment is a relatively new building with basic but modern furnishings. It is located in midtown, which is a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. The management is friendly and helpful. Maintenance response by email or by voicemail is usually responded in 24 hours. The management's availabilty during business hours is a little sparse, however.

The apartment is primarily geared towards younger professionals who work in the area and would like to live close to where they work. The apartment isn't going to blow you away with 20 foot ceilings, hot tub jacuzzis, or 24 hours concierge; however, for its target market, studio one is a decent apartment that one wouldn't be ashamed to bring company over. In fact, most people I bring over are actually very pleasantly surprised.

I have felt reasonably safe. It is Detroit, but I have never felt threatened on the apartment property itself. The apartment appears to be priced appropriately to market standards, maybe a bit high to keep the riff-raff out, however, I found that prices everywhere are negotiable, and I was able to negotiate several hunded dollars off the advertised rental price. Maybe I could have knocked more off if I haggled harder.

Couple of things to note. Cable is provided by comcast. although everyone loves to hate comcast, the services is leap years better than the prior cable provider. Evreyone now has access to HD TV and fast internet service. Also parking is handled by WSU, so figure an extra 70-80 dollars/month to your rent.

I am a past resident of Studio One Apartments and was very satisfied with my stay there. From day one the staff was very helpful, and moving in was a breeze. My only concern at the time was limited parking, because I came with one car and planned on getting another while I was there. In the end it was never a pressing issue, but if I could suggest one thing to management its that they possibly include parking fees or at least include some of the cost in your rent. The area was wonderful, and you are so close to everything! Im an art fan, so having the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit and the Opera House close were a major plus. I would recommend Studio One to anyone looking for an upscale, nice apartment community in downtown Detroit.

The apratments are really nice & I love the floor to ceiling windows. This place has such character. I love the loft style layout. And they are in a really good location. I'm not thrilled about having to pay for parking though.

I have lived here for several months now and have experienced everything I thought I would. Being that these apartments are located near Wayne State University there are students but the DMC and Harpers hospital are just as close so there are a lot of professionals as well. I really liked what I saw in the apartments and the people I met in the office. The apartments are VERY nice and have everything I was looking for such as updated appliances and granite counter tops and being very open, with that does come a little noise but it is not overwhelming and is only heard if the neighbors are intentionally being loud and again I haven't had this happen but once. I would have liked for parking to be included but understand that since Wayne State own the parking deck that this is impossible, it is nice to have it directly connected to the building though. As far as utilities go...I have been renting for a long time and would rather be able to monitor my utilities so that way I can keep them low and pay what I use rather than paying a ridiculous amount that includes everything as alot of the places around here do. The location is great, I being an artist love that Utrecht is right downstairs plus the bank and restaurants so its convenient. In all, my experience here has been great. The cable service City Cable sucks! I have heard from several of my neighbors how unhappy they are with it as well so I wanted to know what could be done but it turns out that the management has been fighting this battle for months and will be changing providers soon. The rent was a little out of my price range and the parking didn't help but having everything right here in walking distance really saved me a lot on gas which ultimately put it back in my price range. Im sorry others do not feel as though their experience has been as good as mine.

I've lived here for a little over a year now and all is well! I'm in the office constantly picking up packages and I've never met a nicer office staff.

The reviews here are by people that have some strange expectations. I've lived here for a year, and am getting along fine. My only complaint is that the office staff never has any idea whats going on, and will break anything promised if something changes on their end. Wow, bad property management in Detroit? i dont believe it.

The building seems VERY safe, and at almost all hours there is a police presence as well as security personnel in the garage and lobby.

The fixtures and appliances are new, but cheap, but everything looks very nice. When something breaks the maintenance man James is positive, prompt, and eager to do a good job! The windows and door walls really set the place apart from anywhere else. For the money the, size, spacious cabinets and closets are also way nicer than other rentals that are a safe walk to the Wayne state campus; which brings me to my next point.

If you want to live here you need to realize you'll be living on a COLLEGE CAMPUS. There are many professionals in the building as well as college students (many med/law students.) Do not expect to find a place where students don't make noise on fri/sat night, or cause a little mischief. Someone complained about people smoking weed in a different review; Smoking marijuana is not illegal in Michigan and could very well be someones medicine. The person who wrote that review also chose to live in the Cass corridor (think about it.) I've never seen a needle in the parking lot, or a dealer offering to sell anything in the immediate area.

I am happy to pay for the parking as there is ALWAYS an attendant, and there is secure access to the building through the garage. The parking facility is state of the art in terms of safety and from what i heard, received nation-wide recognition for its design.

This is my 5th apartment home. I've had problems here, however they have been of the type you will encounter living in any nice apartment. In comparison with other rental options around Wayne State U, this building lacks the roaches, bed bugs, lack of maintenance, awful smells, lack of security, and lack of modern updates you will find anywhere else within walking distance. My friends and family are impressed with my place.

I moved into studio one apartments right when they were finished and although its a clean, new place there have been some issues with the apartment. First and foremost the noise has been really bad, despite the realitor telling me it was mostly "business professional" the apartments cater to a lot of wsu students and they all have large speaker systems. Additionally, the ground floor is occupied by restaurants and banks, so if you live on the second floor be prepared to here noise from below at all hours.

Another issue I have with the place is the awful cable service that you are forced to have. No HD, no upgrades, just really fuzzy basic cable. Ive asked many many times to upgrade and Im met with a "cant do anything about it, sorry" or when ive requested to cancel and get my own service they say "cant do that the building is already wired and cancelling is not an option". Its been really frustrating because I have a good tv that looks awful on their cable plan.

Finally, visitor parking is pretty bad. They wont let you use the lot out back, you have to use the parking garage and that costs 20 bucks for a friend to park their for the weekend.

Those are three things that anyone looking to move into studio one apartments should consider before signing the lease.
