Sliding downhill very quickly!

Pluses: The location is fantastic, immediate access to the Lodge/Northwestern, 696, Telegraph Rd. Apartments are large and quite nice. The grounds are well-maintained and are constantly replanted. The maintenance people are great, but this is assuming the complex manager notifies them that there are maintenance requests. We had no air conditioning for a week during 90 degree heat this summer, just for an example. The buildings are very quiet, but I think that's because no one lives here any more.

Downsides: Used to be a great complex, but has gone downhill, particularly in the last year. We moved out 37 days ago. By law, a full refund of the security deposit has to be given within 30 days or notification given of why the monies are kept. Otherwise, the amount due triples. The management company has "mistakenly" kept 1/4 of our deposit and has been dragging out the payment of the balance for nearly ten days since we contacted them about the mistake. We are about to take legal action if this isn't resolved. The lack of concern about problems and issues (a week to respond to maintenance requests, etc.) was one of the major factors in our decision to move. In addition, my car was damaged twice while parked outside my building and the antenna was stolen off of it. Doors are forever left ajar, and someone I know in the complex had her apartment ransacked while she was away on her honeymoon.

Rent, while fairly consistent with the area, continues to rise each year. In the 3 years I have lived here, not once have the outsides of the windows been cleaned, despite numerous requests. For the past year, I could no longer see out my bedroom window. Every year the parking lot is torn up in odd geometric sections for at least a week, which makes it really fun to get around the complex. Finally, during the summer, they run the sprinklers at night, which makes it impossible to sleep with your windows open. I am a very heavy sleeper, and I was consistently woken up out of a sound sleep about 2:30 am if I left my windows open. All in all, I would not recommend this community to anyone any more.
