Eagan is a great community and has much to offer

Eagan is a great community and it does have much to offer, contrary to what you'll read in another review I've read on the site! I grew up in Eagan and have witnessed it's growth for many years.

I have lived at Cedar Villa's now going on two years. When I first moved into this complex office staff was wonderful and very friendly. I have seen many changes in office staff turn-around throughout my short duration here. I have witnessed some of the office staff being harrassed and putting up with a lot of what I refer to as obscenities from some delinquent teenagers who live in the area. Cedar Villa's butts up to another townhouse property within the premises run by Dakota County Community Development Agency. These townhomes are for low income families (they still have income requirements they have to meet in order to live their). Cedar Villa's also has an agreement (per financing agreements before building was done) with Dakota County that 20 percent of their townhomes are to be rented to people on Public Based Housing assistance (a form of Section 8).

Not everyone of Section 8 is terrible, however a few can spoil the cart and beliefs and judgements for the rest and this is unfortunate. Cedar Villa's does have it's fair share of hoodlums and troublemakers roaming about. Sometimes I wonder how some of the residents who move in are screened as yes, there are LOUD neighbors both inside and outside of their units. Some have car stereo systems so loud that they quite literally SHAKE the building many doors away. When a complaint is made to office staff about these people it just seems to take a while before anything is done about the problem.

I personally enjoy a community to live in that has a lot of offer the residents, as my belief is that offering involvement in activities from time to time gives people more of a sense of belonging to their community. The former office staff was excellent at this by setting up things like a Valentines Day appreciation gathering in the community/party room onsite. They also provided residents with a monthly newsletter of the "goings on" for each month. But...now that they are gone, so is that community feeling. Nothing is ever being passed out in terms of resident communication or resident retention activities.

Personally, everything I have asked for as far as maintenance has been done, but I am grateful that it has not had to be anything "huge". I will say that I am very frustrated at the snow plowing that is done at this property after snow storms in the winter. As far as I'm concerned plows come out way too late after a snowfall. Don't they know that people need to be able to get out to go to jobs and make enough money to live here? Also, school busses have to get through in the mornings and evenings and sometimes there can be emergencies that could come up like the need to get to a doctor, etc.

The units are nice and roomy, but as another review stated, if you have a downstairs unit you will freeze in the winter...it just doesn't heat well. The upstairs units don't have this problem...especially if you are one of the lucky one's to have a unit with a fireplace.

I hope that I have cleared up some things for you in case that you are considering a move into Cedar Villa's.
