Review for Grand Pre East Apartments

Grand Pre might work for some but not for me at all. First the rent is outrageous for what you get. The apartments are like any other, there is nothing unique about it so $790 for a one bedroom is a lot for the basic, square, box-like apartment. Also, for some reason the fire alarm would sound atleast once a month and everyone would have to vacate the building and wait for the fire truck to come and ok everything. This is horrible if you have children because you need to drag them out of bed in the middle of the night then try and get them to go back to sleep. Also, managment never explained why it kept happening and they did nothing about it. Management was also really rude and slow about everything. My fridge was broken for the whole six months I lived there and the handy-man kept saying it wasnt so he wouldnt fix it. But my milk would spoil after one week and the temp dial was on the highest level. I complained and they never did anything. Another bad thing is that the parking lot is always full and poorly lit, so parking far away is creepy and during the summer you can always hear people yelling and acting crazy in the lot at crazy hours of the night. There is also supposed to be 24 hour security but most of the time there wasnt anyone there at all. I called security one night (over a creepy man in the building) and no one answered, plus you can see into their office and they are hardly in it. The good things: The laundry facilities are really nice and there are two per floor so you can always get your laundry done when you need it done. No waiting! There is a nice pool and workout room that is rarely being used and it is a pretty quite and safe area. Not a great place for kids. Probably better for a younger couple or a single person. Lastly, dont break your lease!!! There is a $1500 fee to break your lease.
