I lived at this apartment for almost 2 years. The apartment it self wasn't bad; just kind of small. But they are a very disorganized and unprofessional company. The controlled entry to the building was always broken and it took almost a year for someone to fix it. The laundry/storage room was broken in to a handful of times and the door was never fixed, burnt out lights in hallways or outside took too long to be replaced and the on-site manager was nice but never home and didn't have much control over most situations because the UPI office was reluctant to get back to her. When I moved out the UPI office never informed me of the process, never set-up a walk through with me, and charged me my entire security deposit plus cleaning supplies for a dirty kitchen and this was not the case. In fact the entire apartment was cleaner than when I moved in. I heard they do this to almost everyone that moves out of a UPI apartment. So beware, they also have a hidden fee in their lease so when you sign it you are allowing them to charge you an extra $200 which they take out of your security deposit right off the bat. The office manager is very rude and will not give you the time of day if you have any questions or concerns. If you have a problem or become upset about anything unresolved the other staff just play stupid or have a overly sarcastic "kill you with kindness" attitude. I would have taken them to court for my security deposit but time did not allow me to pursue this action. If you have any problems with them I would say bring them to court because this company/owner has a bad reputation and is known to be the slum lord of minneapolis. Rent with caution!!!
