Melrose is a very expensive place to live. The amenities they offer have you believe it's worth the money, but it's not. The gym is too small for as many residents as it has. You have to wait for your turn on the treadmill or bikes. The walls are thinner than paper and you can hear your roommates conversations. The elevator has been out of order for almost two weeks, and with 9 floors, that is way too long. Underground parking is offered for an insane price that nobody can afford and finding a spot in the street is not only impossible, but unsafe. The streets are covered in glass from all the break-ins. When you move in, they offer a roommate matching system that has you fill out your preferences so you are matched with roommates that share similar interests. This system is pointless. I asked for roommates that are very clean and semi quiet. My roommates are pigs that party every night, and unless you keep all your kitchen supplies in your room, your roommates will most likely use it for themselves and ruin it. Thats what happened to me. I asked about switching apartments since their matching job was so terrible, and they charge hundreds of dollars as a transfer fee. A few times a month they do have free food, which is nice. When you move out, the entire apartment gets inspected and you get charged for anything that is wrong with it. You pay for your roommates spills on the carpet or couch, whether you were aware it existed or not. I went to get a vaccuum cleaner from the front desk and was told they were both broken. Unless you have known your roommates beforehand, I would not recommend living with strangers for such high rent. There is a new apartment building going up next door and Melrose is trying to pretty up the front walkway to keep people from moving next door. Maybe try out the new place, because you don't want to live here.
