Review Title:   Say Good Bye To Your Deposit, Hello To Roaches
Reviewer:   Anonymous
Review Date:   2/12/2006

They charged us $250 as a "check procesing fee" to give us our security deposit back. They also claimed in the 12 months we lived their, that we never paid the pet deposit, so they took an additional $150. We lived at 19th/Bryant- it was the worst experience EVER- We were on-time renters, quite, professional... no problems from US. We dealt with light fixtures with broken bulbs and dangling live wires, continual damage to our doors from attempted break-ins, we had captured roaches almost 2 inches in length ( UPI mgmnt calls them japaneese water beetles) luckily our cats handled the mice- but our neighbors without cats had a regular occurence with them in all rooms. Our kitchen cupboards got infested with little red bugs-all our food had to be thrown out- twice! We brought food items that had been infested by the bugs straight into the office- sat them on the counter along with written and digital photo testimonials- we demanded better conditions, we even threatened actions with the county attorney- we got very little done. We left our place 2 months early and paid double rent just to get out of the disgusting conditions and away from the most repulsive, compulsive liar of a business manager- we paid rent through the end of the lease, cleaned it better than a private cleaning company... they refuse to allow tennants to do the official walk through- they want you to sign the check out list, and then they have "professional cleaners" come in and do a second inspection- you have no idea what they will charge you with- we refused to sign until the manager initialed off on every area of the checklist and noted that things that were broken that we absolutely would not be charged with as they were in that condition since the day we moved in. We strongly encourage you to tell your friends, neighbors, ANYONE to do the same if they are currently leasing- if they are looking- tell them to not make the biggest mistake by signing a lease with UPI. CROOKS- LIARS- You can do much better- do not rent from UPI.
