Review for Windom Gables Townhomes Apartments

I moved in to the townhome with my husband in 2007. It has its pros and cons...

The management staff has always been friendly, and kept us informed. The couple times we have needed something fixed, they have promptly taken care of it the very next day (this has only been twice...once for a broken curtain rod over the back door, and once for a broken lock on the bedroom door).

When we rented the unit it was spotlessly clean, and came with a brand new washer and dryer. All of the appliances work look and work like new.

The main floor has a nice size livingroom, with a separate dining area, and a nice size kitchen. The cabinets in the kitchen look like new. My only complaint is there are no closets (for coats) on the main floor.

The basement is mostly finished, and has what could be a living area, or a bedroom, with 2 good size closets, a huge bathroom, and an unfinished laundry/storage area. The ceiling is a little low going into the bathroom (which isn't a problem for me at 5'3"...but taller people might mind...although my brother is 6'4" and he doesn't have a problem).

The upstairs has a decent size master bedroom with 2 closets, another bedroom with 1 closet, a decent size hall closet, and a bathroom with a tub.

There is also a cement patio right outside the kitchen.

For the price, there is a decent amount of space.

I do have a couple complaints...

First...noise. This is definitely not a quiet place to live. There are a lot of children running around. Neighbors like to play loud music. And the walls are not very thick between homes, so neighbors are very easily heard. I can hear my neighbor when she's cooking in her kitchen, when her kids are going up and down the stairs, when he's vacuuming at 3AM, etc. I've lived in various apartments for 4 years now...and have never heard my neighbors as clearly as you can hear neighbors here.

The squirrels are VERY friendly. TOO friendly if you ask me. The day we moved in, and were moving boxes from the truck to the house, a squirrel crawled up right into the truck and was crawling among the boxes. Some cables in my husband's truck were chewed by the squirrels...causing it not to start/run, and costing us $180 to get it fixed.

Parking can be a problem. It can get very crowded and be difficult to find a place to park your car. It is also frequently patrolled by police for parking violators, and tickets are frequently left.

Bottom line...I love the townhouse...just not so crazy about the neighborhood...
