Senior Buildings are nice places to live, but.... ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
Living in a senior building with other seniors is a nice place to live. People your own age, quiet, and friendly. The building was recently rehabbed and looks attractive. However, the doors entereing the apartments have a one inch gap at the bottom (no thresh hold) which means that the halls are smoky from residents who smoke in their apartments. Also, smoking is allowed out front of the only entrance to the building...so you have to walk through it to get in. There is a security system, but residents who gather in the lobby let anyone in. There is only one laundry room with two machine for 40 apartments. The parking lot is poor and is sometimes used by others who do not live here. Also, it is used as a turn around by anybody who needs one. The manager is rarely here. However, the maintenance man is terrific about getting things fixed or at least coming to see what the issue is in a timely way. The only complaint I have about Mound is that it is basically a "bedroom" community and there is very limited shopping and activities for anyone, much less active seniors. It is quite a distance from other areas, too, as you have to drive around the lake to get anywhere.
