Dates Lived: Jul 06 - Feb 07 MOVING OUT TOMORROW! w00t!
This place is terrible. 'Nuf said, but I'll elaborate anyway. My wife worked diligently trying to find a place for us to stay when we transferred bases. After much review and research, she heard that Cypress Lake apartments was one of the premier complexes. This information must have been based on what happened BEFORE Katrina, because this place is FAR from premier.
The "Gated Community" is anything but. The gate has been broken twice in the last two months, and after suggesting they install a camera to at least catch those destroying their property, they said it would cost too much money. Which would be cheaper, and initial investment in monitoring equipment or repairing the front gate every month?
During their HUD inspections, they barged into my home, and disrupted my family. My wife asked them very cordially to come back later because my infant son was sleeping, but instead of even listening or considering it, they pushed their way past her. How is this supposed to make us feel safe? What right do they have to shove their way into our home that we pay for? That is against the law, the last time I checked.
The previous review hit the nail on the head when describing the exterior. They've spent a lot of money repairing the building in the front of the complex, but the buildings near the rear are left in shambles, even 18 months after Katrina. This type of appearance is inexcusable!
The square footage on the apartments is also inaccurate. What should be 1300+ square feet factors in your back porch, and your 5x5 OUTSIDE STORAGE AREA!!!! You can't include non-climate-controlled space in your square footage! Are you kidding?!?!?! Actual living space is more like 1250. Very small for a family of four.
Lest we forget the fact they allowed a sex offender to live there for almost a year. A registered Mississippi sex offender was living in an apartment complex with children running all over the place. It wasn't until it was brought up by a RESIDENT that he was finally evicted. Background check my white ass! What exactly does that money for the background checks go into anyway?
Finally, our downstairs neighbor insists on blasting his music all hours of the day, and has been warned by both my wife and I to keep it down. After failing to comply, and blasting his music in the afternoon, waking my infant son up, we contacted the management to let them know. Instead of even attempting to resolve the issue, their response was "If you have a noise complaint to file, call the police." Ridiculous.
DON'T LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go to Arbor Place.
Cypress Lake: $950 - 1250 sq. ft. Arbor Place: $1000 - 1640 sq. ft. You do the math.
