EXCELLENT STAFF - TOWNHOME! ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
For starters. The office REESE CUPS WERE GREAT!
The staff at Gravois Ridge was more than accomodating from the day I first walked in to tour the Townhomes. From that day forward both office members did everything they could to see to it that I was a happy renter! I immediately felt welcome, and in two years those same staff members were still there!
The maintenance staff was just as good. I had minimal issues and they fixed any issue within that hour!
The townhomes are in very contemporary, roomy, and I couldnt hear anything from the outside once in. The Pool is phenomenal and I enjoyed the quality of fellow Ridge members living with me. RENT HERE ASAP!!!

If you've ever lived in a rental before, you know that things happen all the time that are out of your control. You can't pick you neighbors. The unit you had your eye on wasn't available when you signed your lease. The community pool is crowded on 100 degree days (which are plentiful during a St. Louis summer). There's sometimes trouble finding parking. Whatever. You either get over it and move on, or you dwell on it and let it make you angry.
These places were apparently constructed within the last three to five years, so they're fairly new. They're nice. Nice finishes, but, yes, the workmanship is a bit shoddy in some aspects, like the hardwood floors (some joints and pieces aren't glued in properly, plumbing leaks, etc). But since I'm not the owner of the unit, I don't really care. Whenever something breaks or we find the sink leaking, we call maintenance, and they come and fix it... which they always have, or at least try to the first time, then try something else if they have to come back. Staff isn't that bad, by the way. Kim is really the only one we've ever dealt with, and she's pretty nice.
Our backyard doesn't drain well after a big rain, or when the snow melts in the spring and we get a lake in the back, but no big deal. We stay on our little patio anyways, it's not like we're using the yard. The walls seem a little thin... we can hear the dog bark on one side, and the music on the other... but it's never gotten to the point of being a nuisance. And the only time we ran out of hot water was when we had three guests staying with my wife and I and we were all taking turns in the bathroom. Oh yeah, the neighborhood kids can be a pain, too... playing in our back yard, running in the middle of the streets, deliberately running out in front of cars as if it's some kind of game (yes, I over heard the kids talking about it when they decided to run out in front of cars in the street in front of our townhouse)... and dog poop everywhere in all the grassy areas. We've really starting noticing that kind of stuff recently.
But, all-in-all, the neighborhood isn't too bad... there are a couple cops that live in other units, so there doesn't seem to be much of a safety issue. And one of the older guys runs a neighborhood watch. Over the hill, and down the road are all trailer parks, so the quality of the immediate surroundings isn't that great. But, a half a mile away is the movie theater, Target, Kohl's, Shop 'n Save, Lowe's... and everything else in Gravois Bluffs. Traffic can be kind of a pain when the weekend shoppers flood the Bluffs, but you deal with it for living so close to everything. Sure, some of the neighbors aren't necessarily the best quality of people... not too many young professionals like us, but this place is in Jefferson County, after all...
Overall, it's really not that bad if you don't dwell on silly little things or have no idea what it means to live in a rental. We're probably going to stay for another year before we look to either buy a house (because the rent/mo for our 2BR/1.5BATH townhouse is about equivalent to a $180,000 mortgage) or relocate to another city because of work... but, it's not worth the expense of moving just for the sake of moving to another apartment.

Finally after three apartment complex's we have found one that actually delivers instead of just promises to deliver. Our apartment was as nice and as clean as the display (image that) We were not shown one and rented another not so nice and clean. They are quiet ahhh no one over us YAY! Noone below us YAY! We love it here and will recommend it to our friends. Granite! Love it. Nice neighbors and great team in the office. Congrats to me and mine!

Moved in 6+ months ago and was quit suprised by some of the negative review. I have never had a problem with the manangement, but then again we try to abide by the clubhouse rules....no kids without adult supervision. I have witnessed that myself on numerous trips to the gym. Kids trying to play pool, drinking coffee, surfing the net. I guess I would get crabby to if I had to manage the complex and babysit everyone kids. We love our apartment and the lay out. It has a great open floor plan, I can cook and see my kids playing in the next room. Maintenance issue that I have had were handled the same day....unheard of at our last apartment. If I had one complaint its that they need some more parking. I have never had any problems at the pool either but they could be hit or miss. Some folks think that rules are made to be broken. I give this place a definate YES

MOved in June of 2010. The staff has always been really nice and happy to admit when they were wrong. Haven't had any major issues and as long as you call them...they will be there to fix anything. The maintenance guys are really really nice. Things are kinda cheap..but look really nice...and if any of the cheap stuff breaks...they fix it fast...infact I call them all the time for the littlest thing because I don't want to get charged when we move back home and they have NEVER taken over 24 hrs to respond. I am kinda weirded out by previous reviews...we prolly won't renew lease because it is expensive and we hardly use the gym and tanning as much as we should...but would highly recommend for to anyone else.

Living here was the longest year of my life! They never fixed anything that messed up on these "brand new luxury townhomes" The management is extremely rude, Nicky has the worst attitude and acts like shes better than everyone else and had the nerve to get an attitude when I called it an apartment when on the sign it clearly says apartments. There was always construction going on as early as 6a.m right in my backyard. The construction guys knocked our dish over and cracked it and didnt even bother to tell us and the management told us thats why we shouldnt have satellite in the first place. This is the worst place I have ever lived in my entire life and the price is outrageous for how rude the staff is and the quality of the place. Our bannister fell off 2 months after we moved in. COMPLETE BULLSH*T.

Our family moved here in the fall of '09 and have had no major problems. When I was searching the area for apartments (and I looked at several) I found this was the best size, style and convenience for the price. Several major stores are very close (Wal-Mart, Dierbergs, Shop 'n Save, Petco, etc) where we can get all of our grocery shopping done quickly, and several restaurants are close for when we don’t feel like cooking (Qdoba, Subway, Sonic, IHOP, Steak n Shake, etc). There’s even a ‘Great Escape’ movie theater down the street!
We like the family atmosphere the complex has. Not everyone has kids, but the residents seem to be very considerate and friendly. There’s no play area here, but there’s a nice park a few miles away where we take our child. The clubhouse has a lot of activities available to residents (outdoor swimming pool, pool table, exercise equipment, tanning bed, free gas-station cappuccino coffee, etc). The place is pet-friendly, in that we only had to pay a one-time fee when moving in (no monthly pet fee, yay!), and there’s pet potty areas all over the complex. We haven't encountered any security issues, but as with any location we use common sense (lock the doors, lock the cars). We feel safe when we walk the complex and take our dog out at night. Parking has not been a problem for us. We have two cars and always have a spot close to our door. I love having a private entrance and not having to walk up or down flights of stairs to get into our apartment.
If we had to complain about anything it would be the somewhat sloppy construction of the units. We have found mistakes in the drywall work (textured walls that were smoothed out around doors instead of re-textured, gap between upper molding and drywall in the bathroom, but none of it is very noticeable or hazardous), cabinet doors that were hung crooked, drywall dust in the cabinets that get on the dishes (we’ve wiped out the cabinets but the dust is still spilling from somewhere), and generally a little sloppy with the grout work on the sinks, but it’s definitely not unlivable. Another thing would be the vinyl hardwood-looking tiles that are glued directly onto the concrete and not to insulating subflooring on the lower level; it is very cold and hard. Area rugs help, but that is my biggest complaint that I hadn’t thought of before we moved in. Overall, we are very satisfied with the apartment and would highly recommend it.

You have to remember, this is an apartment and you can not control who you are living next to or what they do. With that in mind, my family and I have lived here for just over a year. Having lived in many other apartments, some good... some bad... I would give this place a 4 out of 5 rating. The units look nice and are nicely arranged. We have had a few things break/need repair, but all of our maintenance requests were acted upon in 1-2 days. Elaina (assistant manager) is a very easy person to work with... Nikki... a lot less desireable. We try to speak with Elaina whenever possible.
Safety is a concern if you have small children. The front and back doors are easily opened by smaller children and the street/drive way around the complex is just steps from your front door. The complex is very packed with buildings... 1 bedroom lofts with garages are squeezed in wherever they can fit them, which creates some blind corners. Tennents often drive quickly around these roads... you must really watch your children.
The hard floors and stairs are another safety concern if you have smaller children. However, if you walk through the model unit you can see for your self and make that call. We chose to rent anyways and have just kept a closer eye on our child.
There is quite a bit of mud when it rains... grass is still something that has not been completely installed... maybe next year?
The noise level is fairly good in my area. You do hear some noise on the weekends and sometimes the cars driving by, but for the most part... no complaints.
The biggest dissapointment/complaint we have had is the removal of the trash recepticals which were much more convenient than the 1 trash compactor that is located in the center of the property. There was no notice about this change and management has gone about this in a treatening manner... stating they will fine tennents for leaving trash outside the door. You do have to either walk a good distance carrying your trash or drive it in your car. If you leave it outside your door for even just a couple of hours until it's convenient to take to the compactor, managment will leave a letter on your door....
All in all... this place is not too bad, but I think a lot of tennents expect it to be top notch since you are paying a hefty price for the rent.

We moved in at the end of last year and love it here. Our unit is very nice and we haven't had any issues. The office staff is very friendly and we have made some good friend here. I like being so close to shopping and to the new hospital where I work. We plan on renewing when our lease is up.

I have lived in this community for about a year now and I really like it. I live in a brand new, unit no one had ever lived in it before us. I can't hear my neighbors and my husband and I have made some pretty good friends here. As a matter of fact we just renewed our lease for another year. The office staff has been extremely nice and helpful. After reporting a maintenance issue I have had to wait a most a day before it was repaired. I can understand the frustration of construction. We had our home built 6 years ago before selling it and moving in here. This is nothing compared to the stress we faced then. Maybe my husband and I can be more understanding since we have dealt with construction first hand. Our unit is beautiful and we are really enjoying it.
