Apartment Review for Merchandise Mart Apartments

I have stayed at the Merchandise Mart just under 4 months now and have experienced years’ worth of problems in this short time. It starts with just minor things such as the overabundance of insects in the apartment, the unbearable amount of noise that comes out of the furnace, and a ceiling that constantly leaks. On top of this everyone from management to maintenance has a complete lack of professionalism; when voicing my concerns management is often not responsive. Also, it takes maintenance forever to respond to my requests and when they finally do respond and I cannot get any service to my apartment without their staff coming on to me. Also recently someone had a party in one of the common areas and for whatever reason I was accused of the damage done to this area. Their management again was indifferent to my calls and concerns on this matter and was finally delivered an unapologetic letter when they realized they were in error.

The most troubling part of my experience has been dealing with the noise level and a particular neighbor. I am a single mother and live here with my son and upon filing a complaint against the noise of a neighbor; this man approached me while in the elevator with my son and had my life threatened in a manner that I found serious enough to contact the police. Of course management was made aware of this issue, but nothing was done. At the very least I do not feel I should have to share a building with individuals of this nature and have to fear for my own or better yet my son’s safety. There are plenty of apartment buildings in downtown St. Louis, and if you even consider Merchandise Mart in your search, please let me be the first to warn you that would be a major mistake!!!
