Review Title:   Not Nearly As Bad As These Reviews Say
Reviewer:   Anonymous
Review Date:   5/16/2006

I'm currently living in Acerno Villas and have been for a few months. When I first spoke to Jenny while looking over the place, I liked the complex a lot but before I was willing to move in, I had to do some research. I found this page and after reading the reviews I was pretty scared, but then I went around to other apartments and read those reviews as well. Look around the internet some and you'll see almost every apartment is mostly negative reviews. It seems the only people willing to write a review are those with negative things to say. Sure, this place isn't all peaches, the management isn't exactly the most competent bunch, Jenny comes off as a snake, and it took maintenence almost a week to come work out an issue we were having, but that's just about all I can say for the bad parts. Now for the good: it is quiet, at least within the complex itself. I don't hear my neighbors very often, and you can get a good night's sleep pretty easily. There is construction currently going on across Maule that will wake you up at 6 in the morning on weekdays, but if you have to get up around that time for work anyway, it doesn't matter. I've read reviews talking about all the potheads, well, I haven't seen one in the time I've been here. As for the previous reviews mention of the water bill: yes, they didn't have the current water bill up, which is why they told us to pay last month's, but they aren't charging us for the current month's either, they're charging us the same as before. You aren't going to get screwed by them suddenly saying you owe more, because the meter was broken, they can't even track it. The apartment itself is fairly nice. The window seals are crap and I hope you like hearing wind whistle, but the rest of the place is in good shape. Nice balcony, nice stove, fridge, microwave. The plumbing fixtures are pretty bad, too, I can't even count how many times I've clogged the toilet, and I can assure you my stool is not that tough or that abudant. The AC unit is pretty loud, and on pretty often due to the bad seals on the doors and windows, but things could be worse.

Oh, yeah, and to the management: if you want to write some reviews fellating your own apartment complex, don't do them on the same day. When you have 8 negative reviews and 4 positive reviews, and 2 of those positive are on one day and the other 2 are on the other day, plus they all have the same writing style, it's really obvious it's just management.

In summary: the reviews make this place out to be a lot worse than it really is. I think it's a bit expensive for what you're getting, but I'm happy living here and unless something unexpected happens, I plan to renew my lease when it expires. In essence, you get what you pay for. You're renting an apartment, not buying a house, so don't expect to live in a castle and you won't be disappointed.
