My wife and I moved here in April 2012 just about the time Picerne Group (apartment owners) put its own management team in charge. Because the apartment location, resort-like atmosphere, floor plans, amenities, and views speak for themselves, our main concern when considering these apts was some of the reviews that were so negative as to suggest this area is a drug-infested hangout for violent criminals. We moved here for 3 reasons. One, we like the apts and area. Two, the sales force and maintenance crews we spoke with were real, normal, sincere people who fit the image of professional, responsible respectability. Three, I know many online reviews are written by malcontents who lack the maturity, the experience, and the discipline to realize the world does not revolve around them. These people tend to get angrily indignant when they do not get their way, and when management reminds them that rules apply to them, too.
I have heard some unflattering things about the previous management, which may be part of the reason Picerne put its own team in place. But I must balance that with the fact that some people I know (who are normal, reasonable, rule-keeping retired people) have lived here 3 years and really like it. Yes, they have had occasional irritants...because even nice neighborhoods and apartment complexes are going to have an occasional bad neighbor – and even good neighbors who sometimes do annoying things. That is life on planet earth.
Our experience here has been good so far. But even if there is an occasional grain of truth to some of the negative reviews, we are encouraged by the actions (ye shall know them by their fruits) of the Picerne manager. She has been doing things to ensure that maintenance, grounds-keeping, and security forces are manned by responsible people, and she has reminded all of us of the rules. A number of malcontents saw the handwriting on the wall and moved out, and a number of repeat offenders have been evicted. Those of us who realize pleasant communal living depends on people abiding by the rules are pleased.
One day I had business at the office. But it was closed for several hours because the new manager had taken her staff on a training tour of the property in order to point out what was good and what was not. Rather than get upset and write negative reviews about how we were inconvenienced by the closed office, all of us law-abiding residents took comfort in the fact that those who are guardians of our little resort-like world are hands-on managers who take their responsibilities seriously.
I live here as well and agree 100% with the post before mine. Im currently looking into going elsewhere when my lease ends in a couple of months. Since they have lowered the resident requirements there is more crime like car break in's etc. Security companies are changed every couple of months and they are usually young and on their cell phones. Getting a grill to cook out is rare and the pool maintenance is almost non existant. I mean if the pool is cloudy it means the kids are peeing in the pool and no one is taking care of the issue for DAYS! I haveva dog and clean up after him but yet there are people who let their dog pee in the elevator and don't clean it. Im sorry but the smell of urine in a closed space at 100 deg temps really is disgusting! Im happy I was one of the first people to move into my apt but everything is cheaply made inside! The outside stucco walls are breaking apart and maintenance.. haha what a joke! Im ok with not having assigned parking but it gets frustrating when in the lease it says no more than 2 cars per apartment. Why is it that there is 1 person with 3 cars that takes the best spots and doesnt move? Im so disgusted with this place.. in a year almost less it was such a nice place and now its a **** hole! If you want to be in this area Id say try the montecito apartments on elkhorn. Cheaper rent and very clean place. If this area wasnt so far from work id prolly go there.
Good luck with finding the right place but think twice before moving into this one.
I currently live here and I love love love living here. It's two apartment complex's in one. therefore you get two of everything. two gyms two pools, two jacuzzis, two club houses, & two media/business centers. This place is ideal for the average person/student/married couple. Low on funds but big on luxury types. Me and my wife live in a spacious one bedroom unit with patio/balcony. Upon getting our unit it was clean and brand new. We were told we were the first ones to occupy the unit. Bathroom is bigger than most home bathrooms with a nice shower/tub, ceilings are nice and tall, kitchen size is perfect with electric stove. Refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer/dryer included. Parking is easy. There is no assigned parking for now due to the apartments not being fully occupied but I see new occupants moving in every now and then. So the place is steadily filling up. Both pool areas are absolutely gorgeous with cabanas and bbq grilles. That alone was the deal breaker. Not to mention the two fireside lounges this place has. I have a few friends come over from time to time and the remark I so often get is, 'wow i feel like i'm at the Red Rock Pool. Oh and i forgot about the two beautiful mini gyms, I go 4-5 times a week and its never crowded. Machines are readily available and it's always clean. Yes, this place is all about low cost luxury living. The Community itself is great. The only downside is that the place allows pets which is fine but every now and then there's always that random peace of dog crap on the rocks that the owner didn't bother to pick up. other than that the place is great. You wont find a better cleaner nicer place at the going rate you pay here for rent.
