Apartment Reviews for Evergreen Meadows Apartments
Worst staff I have ever seen

The apartments are OK, very roomy, and reasonably priced. The area is also pretty good - if you can ignore the noise from the trains, the nearby fire station and the constant ambulances from the nearby hospital.

But the property managers are extremely rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and uncaring. Unless you kiss their *****, then they are at least nice. They are also gossips, and will gladly share your personal information with anyone who will listen, including drinking habits, dating habits, apartment condition, even credit ratings! (They process your rental application, including the credit check)

The other big problem is snow removal. It is ALWAYS slow and ALWAYS inadequate. There are several parking lots that they literally do not plow at all, so even if you dig your own car out (and trust me, you will ALWAYS have to dig out your own car, no matter where you park), you still can't actually move it because of 50-100 feet of unplowed parking lot. And don't bother talking to the office harpies about it, because they just don't care.

Heat and hot water are free, but the heating sytems are at least twenty years out of date - there are no thermostats in the apartments, and the heating capacity is inadequate on the coldest winter days. Combine this with the fact that the windows (which should have been replaced 10 years ago) don't close correctly and you have a cold drafty apartment, with squeaky floors.
The maintenance people are nice, but not very motivated, and the maintenance and cleanliness of the common areas is mediocre.

There is also a HUGE feral cat population, which the local animal control people can't do anything about, because it is private property. Again, the girls in the office don't care and have done exactly nothing, despite many tenant requests.

The apartments come with basic appliances, but don't get your hopes up. Even if you get a newly remodeled unit, the dishwasher and refrigerator are the by far the cheapest I have ever seen. The air conditioners, like the windows, should have been replaced a decade ago. And if you like to cook, be prepared to level the stove yourself.

There is also a serious problem with storage. All of the units have basements, but tenants are not allowed to use them for storage of anything. Similarly, items left in the hallway will merit a scolding from the office gossips, and a demand for their removal.
All in all, it's not a hellhole, but I would absolutley NOT recommend it to anyone.
