Apartment Review for The Brownstones At Englewood South

I have waited 3 months to write this review because I wanted to get my security deposit back before I write the truth about this horrible, horrible apartment. In one word, this is the worst place in the entire Englewood south. I really hope some of these people from Buzzuto, the company that manages the brownstones; have been fired by the management as many of us have complained about their atrocities and their behavior in general. The property manager Jennifer Mortellaro, the resident maintenance manager Paul De Jesus and the leasing agent Iliana! All these people are the worst at their job and completely incompetent. They will treat you like you have committed a crime and are working for them and not the tenants who pay your rent on time, they really don't care what the tenants think about the property or whether they stay or not, have an unreasonable attitude towards some tenants and will stoop to any level to show you that you are at their mercy.

We had so many incidents at our apartment, and these people would lie on our face about anything and everything. Unless you interact with them in writing they can change their statements anytime and will go back on what they said. We had been dreading our decision to rent here just after a few months of our moving in. There were cracks on our ceilings every now and then, there was water leakage every now and then, the flooring would come apart every now and then, and worst of all you would be treated by the hostility of the property management group every now and then. The worst part is that this property is only 2 years or so old. My breaking point was when these people not only disrespected me and my wife in their office by yelling at us, but left us hanging without any help while our apartment was being flooded and their 24 hrs maintenance (which is a joke) did not respond even after our calling them every 10 minutes to tell them the seriousness of the situation. The next few weeks were a nightmare trying to interact with these people. My wife still has nightmares due to that incident. My complaints to the higher ups in the Bozzuto Company also went unanswered, and our calls for help were ignored. When I spoke to a few lawyers in Englewood, I was basically told indirectly that this property is an important project for the city of Englewood, and that it would be difficult for me to do anything. That is when I got the point that I should probably move and not waste my time fighting these people. However, this has been the single most humiliating and haunting year of our life living at this apartment, and after paying the huge rent on this place we thought we would be treated at least with some decency.

So if you want to spoil your peace of mind, lose your temper every now and then, get treated like a lesser human being, pay a high amount, feel unsafe, and start to wonder why life is treating you so bad...then Brownstones is your place. If you want to have a normal life go anyplace else and believe me you won't regret it. My wife and I are so lucky that we got out of that ramshackle apartment with only some damage to our belongings and no physical damage to us.
