Review for The Grove Apartments

Lets just say I exhausted all avenues trying to get out of my lease (including going to court) but with no luck. The complex is VERY poorly operated and managed - mostly by people who are no older than me (and I'm on the older side at 24). Nothing that was promised was completed on time (internet, cable, security gate, pool, landscaping, 24/7 gym access, coffeehouse (I have yet to see people enjoying a cup of coffee). I currently have to pay for my own internet (which they are supposed to provide, but is insanely slow and not useful). The noise is awful - they are so cheaply built that I can hear the guy who lives above me use the restroom (nasty) not to mention every footstep they take (can you imagine the noise from a party then?!). The staff has the authority and access to enter your apartment whenever (WITHOUT notice - its leagal, and hidden in the lease). My roommate was exiting the shower one day only to find maintenance standing his room. Our first week there we were broken into - and they management proceeded to tell us it was our fault somehow (the police agreed the apartment was forceably entered). No one cares about the premesis - trash and garbage pile up, the outside furniture (the one thing the Grove supplied that was somewhat cool) has been destroyed. They allow pets, but will never replace the poop baggies in the "convienant pet waste station" yet threaten to fine all pet owners for not cleaning up after thier pet. Our dryer broke and was about to catch on fire (defective heating unit) but the manager insisted that it was ok and to keep using it (he didnt want to believe us). I said I would only continue using it if they agreed to replace the fire extinguisher that was stolen from outside (it took them 3 months to replace it). All our apartments were re-keyed with no warning or notice - luckily I came home during office hours to get my new key so I wasnt locked out (my roommate wasnt so lucky). This again is totally legal and buried in the lease. All in all, its sad the way this apartment complex turned out. I really had high hopes and expectations but was let down. I would NOT recommend this place unless you love trash, tons of noise, and a staff that spends its time seeing how many pieces of gum they can stuff in thier mouth at once (no joke, this actually happened when I went in for help once). Save your money and go somewhere else!!
