The Ghetto In Midtown

I moved to this place nine years ago when the management was professional. Over the years, management changed and the place is now ****. Unsuspecting people assume it's nice because it's in lower midtown by Herald Square and the Flatiron district. Don't be fooled.

Broadway and 28th Street have become a criminal's haven. It's where the lowest life forms from other boroughs come to shop wholesale. They also shop for illegal goods from street vendors, rob, leave their trash and yes, make their way into Breslin. How? Here's how.

Anyone off the street is allowed to walk right into Breslin. There may or may not be a doorman present, depending on how he feels. He may feel like standing outside or maybe like having his friend sit there instead. Maybe he feels like watching TV, not the security monitors (if they work).

The rat-infested back door to the fright elevator is always open and neighboring restaurant owners throw their trash there. You just hope the mice do not make it to your apartment.

The management is horrible. Run by undereducated people with no class, they lie to get you to shut up when you do complain about anything. The lobby looks like a construction site with long carpets rolled up, mops and men sitting on crates, reading the paper and eyeing female tenants who walk by. There are rumors that the owner takes bribes to move in groups of new immigrants.

The other day a stranger got into my elevator who didn't belong. Today a partially nude man was arrested for getting into Breslin and running around high on drugs. He's been there before because it's so accessible.

My friends are afraid to come into this area because of how it looks outside with swarms of undesirable people.

The only professional thing about Breslin is that they put a note under your door early to let you know that the rent will be due soon. Ignore the $650 and up studio apartments sign. This place is garbage!

The only reason I've lived here so long is because I was unemployed for a while, then earning my degree. Now I have a great job, a degree, am about to earn my M.A. and am looking to get the heck out of Breslin!
