Apartment Reviews for Hudson Crossing - New York

If I could give 0 stars, I would. There are so many things about the way Hudson Crossing conducts business that are completely innapropriate and unbelieveable.

For starters, the area is absolutely awful and I never felt safe walking around there at night. It is right near Port Authority which brings some interesting characters, so you would assume the doormen and security are tight. However, in the year I lived there, I got less than 10 phone calls letting me know guests or delivery had arrived. They let absolutely anyone in the building, which is very frustrating when you know you're paying more to live in a doorman building. The doormen are friendly but essentially just there to greet you and really don't serve any purpose.

Other problems I had with the building: the leasing office never disclosed to me that the building does corporate and short-term leases. EVERY SINGLE DAY there were people in and out of the building with suitcases. They weren't just business men- many were foreign tourists who spoke little English and considering I went through an extensive background check to live there, I didn't feel safe knowing the building was essentially operating as a hotel. In addition, our Con Edison electricity bill was off the charts each month. We took all necessary steps to lower it but couldn't seem to figure out the problem. Finally someone from Con Ed came to check and we had been charged more than double each month. I am positive this is because other apartments in the building that were used as short-term or nightly rentals were tacked onto our electricity bill because Hudson Crossing had no way to charge them during their stay.

I would have moved out regardless, but the final straw was when my rent was increased over 15% to renew. Ridiculous. Every broker I spoke to assured me that was way beyond market value and had never heard of such a rent spike. The building as a whole is very untrustworthy and I would never recommend this building to anyone.
