I have lived at Chili Commons for nearly 5 years, and have had nothing but trouble. The first year that I moved in , I had to wait six weeks in the middle of the summer to have my air conditioner replaced. They took it out of the wall and left an empty hole there with just the grate over the outside for all of those weeks.I waited eight weeks for my dishwasher to be repaired. One time my garbage disposal was so rusted and rotten that the whole thing under the sink dropped away from the drain while my dishwasher was running, and water gushed out all over the kitchen floor. It took two days for the maintenance person to show up to fix it.The plumbing in the apartment above mine leaked

for months until they finally repaired it,leaving the water damage to my ceiling that created a hole and a crumbling wall. It stayed that way for four years until I decided to repair it myself. My toilet rocks back and forth , and at one time while I was away it leaked all over the bathroom and out onto the carpet, although the carpet was nothing much to worry about. When I moved in it was torn and stained and had cigarette burns and a bald patch until it was finally replaced this year.It took several weeks for the closet doors to be rehung afterwards. My deck has rotted boards that have rusted nail heads popping out of them. The metal railing around it is rusty and corroded to the point that it has sharp bumps on it.The apartment next to mine has a railing that is falling right off of the deck. The wall above my sliding door is splitting open and the ceiling above that has a four foot long crack in it.I ususally have ice lining the entire inside frame of my sliding door during the winter season. They replaced my air conditioner this year and left a half inch gap around it without weatherstripping. There is no lock on my kitchen window. It was broken , so they removed it. My screen door falls off several times a month. My refrigerator was freezing my food and the freezer kept building up five inch layers of ice, before finally being replaced. My oven broke 3 times this year alone, twice just this month. They brought another broken one to replace it. Five days later I have one that finally works , but only after having to get really nasty with them. There are no security door locks on many of the buildings, including mine.Anyone could walk right in and they do -all of the time -including 13 year olds who want a place to hang out and drink and adults who try to get into empty apartments. We just got our first fire extinguisher installed in the hallway last week. The smoke detector in the hallway has never had the battery replaced since I've been here. The light in the hallway doesn't come on until it's almost too dark to see to put the key in my door. The grounds are so poorly lit at night that it's nearly impossible to identify and describe a person when a crime occurs. They have an easy time time hiding from the police. There is a huge amount of crime , especially drug dealing and theft. There have recently been drug and gun arrests. There is a gang here that operates freely. At one point, one of those gang members was being used to do jobs around here, including delivering the notices about an upcoming neighborhood watch program that did not happen - no surprise. Although management did get some useless neighborhood watch signs that were immediately posted despite not even having a watch program. A man beat his wife to death in one of the townhouses last year , so badly that she had to be identified through dental records ,and no one called the police while they were fighting.People walk around here at night vandalizing cars and other property. There are car break-ins and vehichle thefts. The trees and bushes are not maintained. There is frequently garbage left lying in the bushes and parking lots .The shingles are falling off of the roof and are broken on many of the buildings .For what the rent is here, you get a decent amount of space , but that is the only plus.I have stayed because of the location and amount of space , but I am leaving when my lease is up.I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. You can live like this in the inner city for a lot less.Pay a little more and go somewhere else.
