Review for Chelsea Ridge Apartments

During the initial walk through, I mentioned the vibrations of the Fan/Light fixture in the dining room were excessive. They told us the vibrations were normal. We knew better.

Maintenance allegedly shortened the shank, I told them the vibrations were still not normal. They told us the light fixture was fine. That was the begining of one of the worse nightmares of our lives with a landlord.

Three visits later, after we took videos, had contacted the Chairman of the Board of the Real Estate Investment Company that owns and/or manages the complex and a number of other problems which we started taking pictrues of, maintenance found:

one of the bolts on the Fan/Light assembly had not been tightened. Good thing I persisted. We believe if we had not persisted the fan/light assembly may have come down on my glass table when we were eating.

Other issues:
1. Brown water ( was miracuolsly corrected after I told them I was going to have the water tested, ( not by whom they used to test the water) I later found out other tenants had complained about the brown water for some time before we came along.

2. Air conditioning, we kept getting sick and my husband's lungs started to become congested.

Three sets of air conditions later, when they were putting yet another set of air conditioners in, my husband and I were both home. When they took the allegedly 2nd set of "New" air conditioners which they claim were new, I asked my husband to look in the sleeves. We were not surprised at the dirt and suspected mold that had formed in the sleeves. The sleeves were cleaned and I stopped coughing up blood. No more chest/bronchial infections... HMMMM

3. Mysterious rust colored spots appeared on the bathroom ceilling. We got a note from maintenance which claimed these were forming because we were not using the exhaust fan.

Were they watching us shower????

Surprise! We were using the exhuast fan.

When was the last time you saw condensation marks that were rust colored?

This was fixed while I was out of town.

4. I don't recall how many times I suggested there was a leak in the roof.

Weeks later, after a series of brown water marks appeared in the kitchen ceiling, signs of bulges in the taping.. showed up ... They Found the LEAK in the roof!!!

Is there mold in them there spots or in the roof seeping through the cracks and/or crevices into our apartment??????

WAIT THE BEST OF THE WORSE IS YET TO COME!!!!!

Since we moved in my husband was extremely tired. Funny though he felt the fatigue after he was home about 15 to 30 minutes. He would feel like he was getting a headache.....

Me, I had complained to the doctor in the begining of October about fatigue, and more. They could not find the source, but then none of us were looking for..... The syptoms got worse as the bad weather started.

My husband and I decided there was something definitely wrong in the apartment. He bought three NIGHT HAWK DUAL ALERT ALARM SYSTEMS, which would go off if the levels of gas went above a safe level ditto for Carbon Monxide.

They did go off and we did call maintenance. They came, spent a long time testing the stove and found nothing.

As our Neurologist said the Good News is we are alive... the bad news..well that is between our neurologist and us for now.

Who found out that our GE OVEN was giving off 200ppm's of Carbon monoxide through vent?

Central Hudson, the company Chelsea Ridge has as their supplier.

It took me three hours of calling numerous NY State Agencies before I learned who Chelsea Ridge Apartments bought the heating and cooking gas.

I have some interesting notes from the Chelsea Ridge Management team. They actually tried to make me feel guilty about going to Central Hudson, after they could not find the problems.

NOT OVER YET NOT BY A LONG SHOT.

Chelsea Ridge Apartments put in two more GE allegedly "New" stoves of the same type which spit out the Carbon Monoxide. Both were defective, as was the new one they put in before we moved in.

(Should I mention the problem with the fittings connecting the stove to the gas feed on the second installation? No, I think I'll keep it to myself for now)

WHERE WAS THAT GAS LEAK COMMING FROM THAT CAUSED OUR NIGH HAWKS TO INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF????

I told the service man from CentralHudson I thought it was coming from some other area in the building, not the stove. They were so nice.... I called them a few more times when I had reactions that I had come to associate with being exposed to gas.

On January 31st 2009, I called them for the last time. Central Hudson came.

The gas leak was in a pipe in the laundry room. It is my understanding gas will change it's travel path depending on the draft and drafts will change direction for a number of reasons.

This is the likely source of the gasleak thatwas setting our NIGHT HAWKS OFF, and to which my body was reacting before the NIGHT HAWKS Went off.

The service men at Central Hudson deserve a few rounds of applause!!!!

I have filed a notice regarding the GE GAS stoves and possibly defective regulators, with the New York State Attorney Generals Office in Poughkeepsie.

I discovered that other GE stoves of a similar or same model have recently showed up in this area that have defective regulator valves.

Assemblyman Joel Miller, State Senator Salzman, Governor Patterson and Building Department of the township of Wappingers Falls, NY have all been alerted to the issue of the stove, Carbon Monoxide, and Gas Leaks.

Mr. Mark Liebermann, Fire Inspector for the township of Wappingers Falls, NY has been very helpful. He too deserves a round of applause.

Our address will soon change from that of Chelsea Ridge Apartments.

Whether you live in Chelsea Ridge Apartments or not, if you have a concern about your GE gas stove, CONTACT the company that supplies the cooking gas to your stove and/or call 911 if your Carbon Monoxide ALARM GOES OFF OR YOU SMELL GAS. CHECK WITH YOUR TOWN FOR THE CORRECT PROTOCOL.

I HAVE PROVIDED A CD WITH A VIDEO THAT SHOWS THE STOVE WHICH WE HAD, the readings on the Night Hawk and more TO THE NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL's OFFICE IN POUGHKEEPSIE, NY.

CHELSEA RIDGE IS AWARE OF THE FACT THAT AT LEAST THREE GE STOVES OF THE SAME MODEL WERE DEFECTIVE.

TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE NONE OF MY NEIGHBORS HAVE RECIEVED ANY NOTICE ABOUT THE POTENTIAL OR A PROBLEM WITH THEIR STOVE FROM CHELSEA RIDGE APARTMENTS MANAGEMENT.

THE ALARMS IN THE CIELING INSTALLED BY THE LANDLORD NEVER WENT OFF WHEN THE NIGHT HAWKS WE HAD IN THE HOUSE WENT OFF.
