A Nice Place...

I'm writing this since I couldn't find anything on this place when I wanted to move in. So far this place has been great, its a new place so most things are in real good shape. My apartment isn't perfect some of the fixtures are slightly mismatched, but everything looks real good. I live in the garden not the townhome, and this place is huge. My room is bigger than the room I have at home not including the bathroom and walk in closet in each room. The walls seem to be real good at noise dampening, I can barely hear my roommate right next to me playing his subwoofer, but if I walk over to his room it hurts my ears. Theres some days where we have been so loud I can't believe we haven't been reported, so either the people around us don't mind or the noise is that isolated, personally i've never heard noise from another room. Most nights when I walk in at 2 am or whatever I'll pass a cop or security officer, which makes me feel pretty good. I don't know if my place represents the majority but parking is amazing, there are visitor spots (though parking generally isn't enforced) if you need them, and we probably use 15 out of about 50 spots in our lot. The people at the office are very nice, there is a free pool and taning beds and a community room you can use whenever. Theres also a half court and one or two volleyball courts. Seems like there are two guys that are the maintenance crew, sometimes hard to understand their accent but they take care of everything.

The only things I can think of that irritate me...
The internet here kind of sucks, the free internet is 1.5mbps, so you can download at like 200kb/sec max. You can pay monthly to upgrade, but what the hell.
Power budget
Each room plus the main room have power budgets, you go over them and you pay more, this specifically becomes a problem for the main room, A/C, Heat, dishwasher, fridge, washer, dryer....not really a huge problem but something to think about when you set the thermostat. I only complain about this because rent is upwards of 500 dollars as opposed to all the surrounding complexes being almost 200 dollars cheaper, the least they could do is spot the 5 dollars you go over in power....
Traffic noise
Not sure if everyone gets this, but despite what I thought mallard creek does get a lot of traffic, and its a 24hr thing. You will hear every car pass, I think this is because the windows let sound through (yes they are closed) but I'm not sure.
And the cost...but then again you get what you pay for...well, for the most part.

Oh and I almost forget, this place isn't quite close enough to walk to campus (you could but it would probably take 15 minutes), but there are sidewalks all the way into campus so a bicycle would do just fine, personally I'd recommend a scooter or something though if you don't want to drive.
