Beware of moving to this complex or any run by this company! but if you can't pass up the cheap deal they offer to get you to move in make sure you do the following: 1. Look at YOUR apartment BEFORE you sign the lease, they show the best and rent the rest so make sure you know what you are getting. 2. Read the lease: there are hidden fees: you will NOT get your deposit back because it will go to "administration fees", no one is honest enough to tell you that this is just another way for the company to make money, they will rush thru the lease signing and not explain that. Look at the line that tells what you paid as a deposit. 3. You will also pay for water, gas, common electric,( hallway lights) and trash ( they own the company that bills you- Heartland Regional Power). Most of the units have group meters so it is not based on your actual usage- again, this is a way for the company to make more money. 4. Make sure you turn in the move in check list and that EVERYTHING gets fixed otherwise you will be charged at move out. Take pictures of your damages on your list, make sure your photos are dated or better yet video the unit when you move out. ( they will not walk the unit with you at move out so they can pick it apart when you are not there). 5. If you decide to move out make a calendar so you give an exact 60 day or more notice otherwise you have to stay longer. 6. They will start pestering you 3-4 months before your lease ends to get you to sign for another year. Expect the rent to go up at lease $50.00 (min.) if you stay another year. They don't want you to move out and will beg you to stay because the leasing person gets a bonus for the amount of your increase( no wonder she thinks it is not alot). 7. Be careful with the drop box-rent is late on the 2nd !!, turn it in in person if possible and get a receipt. 8. Check with the police department to see what the crime is like in the area, do they have to go there alot. 9. Check the list for the past 2-3 years with the Better Business Bureau. They have been in the Top 10 Worst Companies in Dayton. ( wonder why!!). 10. Don't get used to the folks in the office, they never stay long enough, it's a revolving door. They never answer the phone or get your work orders fixed, so maintenance sucks!! 11. If they would spend the money they waste on those stupid signs or the people in costumes they could afford to fix up the apartments, keep the lights on outside, fix my leaky toilet and the dishwasher that leaks, but then again that crew constantly changes too. 12. Look in the Apartment Guide and stay away from any complex managed by Connor Group.
