**2453 Overlook Rd-- Apartments Great, Landlord Is

The apartment is really a great deal for the area. It is very spacious compared to others that I have locally seen. The building is very old, but I think it adds a lot of character. Some suites have refinished kitchens, and others have finished bathrooms which are very nice. The wood floors throughout the apartment could use to be refinished, and my kitchen floor especially is disgusting.

Parking in the area is tough, I've received my fair share of parking tickets. As well as the rush hour parking restrictions, be aware that there is no parking in cleveland heights streets from 3-6am, so basically no overnight parking (which would have been nice had the landlord told me). There is one lot at the end of the street (lot 1) that has around ten-twelve 24 hour parking meters. If you park your car there before 10 pm you should get a spot, otherwise they will fill up and you will be out of luck.

If I was basing the apartment on the landlord alone, I would tell everyone I knew not to live here. Metz is an elderly man, and forgets many things. He was unaware that we had three people living in our apartment, and yelled at us for not having three people on the lease (which there are, he just has no idea who is living in his building). He tells you things and will make a verbal agreement with you, later he will deny that he made any agreements. It is almost as though you need to record the conversations you have with him so he will remember them later. At first you think he is forgetful in his aging years, but then he remembers little things to call and yell at you about. Which brings me to another point, he calls you very frequently to tell you things he has already told you twice before such as 'remember to close your windows when it rains.' He thinks his tenants are dumb and once called at 7am to talk about how we can't use normal dish soap in the dishwasher because it will overflow with bubbles. (For the record, we use dishwasher detergent). If you look at this apartment and express that you like it, he will convince you that if you do not give him a down payment right away that he will sell it to the next person, who conviently is coming in a half an hour. He is a sneaky old man and I would consider moving if I wasn't in a current lease. (Although I think I love the apartment itself too much to leave). Great apartment, aweful landlord. The choice if yours.
