Shadow Lakes / Brandy Oaks Photo
1349 Island Bay Drive
Columbus, OH 43235
"Shadow Lakes is the best place I've ever lived. It's quiet, maintenance is top notch, and everyone in the leasing office is super nice and helpful. I never hear my neighbors even though they have kids. True community feel. Shadow Lakes has a pool but Brandy Oaks doesn't, so rent is a bit more at the former, but either is a steal when compared to others in the area that are lesser quality."

"I have lived here for nearly a year, and this was the best decision I could make. The staff is always courteous, prompt, and efficient. The community is very suburbian/residential, and I feel extremely safe and comfortable here. The townhomes themselves are quite spacious (2 BR / 2.5 Baths), though the kitchen is smaller than my ideal home (it does have a disposal and dishwasher). The washer and dryer hookups are upstairs, which makes laundry very convenient. Each bedroom has a larg...

"I lived here for a long time and won't want to go anywhere else. It's close to all the shopping and major highways. It's very quiet and has a shady jogging/walking trail around the community complex. I also get a free family membership to Premier at Sawmill Athletic Club. It's in Columbus city but Dublin School District. Taxes is lower in Columbus than Dublin and my kids enjoy the better school system in Dublin. They are also very good with maintenance calls. Their response time is less tha...

"This community is truly a beautiful, quiet and safe place to call home. The walls are insulated well, and we never hear our neighbors. Occasionally we hear the trains from the train line a few blocks away, but apart from that the noise level is low. Maintenance is professional and on time. Office staff(s) are very attentive and personable. Grounds are kept clean and maintained. All the appliances work well. Living here is comfortable and safe. Residents keep their dogs on the leash, ...

"I have been here 2 years and look forward to another! Its clean, quiet and well maintained. I rarely have a service issue, but when I do its handled promptly and professionally. Theres crime from time to time, but its not the complex tenants but rather outsiders coming in. Cant be prevented, happens everywhere. I recommend this to anyone who needs to live in an apartment. You cant go wrong."

"This is just a very pleasant place to live. The grounds are always clean and upkept well. The patio is good size, with a small area for flowers. I lived there for 3 years with no maintenance problems. The office staff was always friendly and knew me by name. If I had to nitpick, I would just mention that we could hear our neighbors every once and a while, but it wasn't really bad. Also, the air conditioning unit didn't keep the entire apartment quite cool enough, so I had a window air ...

Information About Columbus Apartments

Whether you are moving to New York City or to Des Moines, it is important that you not only choose a home that is affordable and meets your needs, but that is located in a safe, convenient part of town. How long will it take you to get to work? Do you have stores and restaurants nearby? Are the schools in this area good? Are there playgrounds to take your children to or art galleries or theaters or gyms to take yourself to? When you start your Columbus apartment search, it is a great idea to get a feel for the neighborhoods so you make the best decision.

As with any city, there are various neighborhoods that offer a diversity of culture, cuisine, and other opportunities to residents and visitors. And as with any large city, there are probably areas that you would rather not live. Finding out where these are is key in finding a suitable Columbus apt. listing. Here is a look at some Columbus neighborhoods to help you decide.

Tremont, or the South Side.

Tremont is south of Downtown and about five miles from Lake Erie. It is a diverse neighborhood with a large population of Greek and Mediterranean ethnicities. This area offers a lot of great cultural experiences, such as great dining, Lincoln Park, a thriving nightlife, shops, music, and the arts. This is a trendy, fun area to live in. As you might expect with a "trendy" area, Tremont and Downtown apartments can be more expensive. If you use sites like apartmentreviews.net, though, you can find move-in deals to help alleviate the cost as well as get an idea of how the apartments rate in the city.

Ohio City.

This is Columbus's historical district. The Market Square District and West Side Market call Ohio City home, and they are always crowded with shoppers. It is an ethnically diverse area and also home to exceptional dining. It is becoming a mecca for young professionals and there is a lot of new construction and condos in the area. Ohio City offers city living with a sense of community.

Downtown.

A complete overhaul has made Columbus's downtown a great place to live, complete with a gorgeous skyline, museums, stadiums, shopping centers, Playhouse Square, and a rehabbed Warehouse District. You'll find fun clubs, shops, restaurants, and an abundance of things to do. A Columbus apartment in the downtown area will be an exciting opportunity for any newcomer.

Western Suburbs.

This has a more residential vibe and is in close proximity to Lake Erie. Neighborhoods like Westlake, Rocky River, Bay Village, Lakewood, Strongsville, Avon Lake, and Middleburg are experiencing a lot of new construction. There are good schools, stores, restaurants, theaters, and condos. It is a more upscale area, and Columbus apartments for rent will be more expensive here. The amenities may make it the ideal location though.

When you have a sense of the neighborhood you would like to try, begin your Columbus apartment search with websites like apartmentreview.net to get a feel for the apartments that are available. You can find great listings and maybe even some rewards and incentives to make moving a bit less stressful.
