Bad Management - Stay Away

Albany Club has been the worst apartment I have ever experienced in my life. I have had horrible experiences with the apartment management, facility, maintenance and staff. Take my advice and avoid this hell hole at all cost. Here has been my experience:

Prior to Albany Club, I had been living in apartments for the 9 years and I have never had any problems with the management and/or staffs - until I moved to Albany Club and my nightmare began....

THE STAFF
First, it can't retain its staff. I had only been a tenant for over a year, but there were always new faces each time I went into the leasing office. High turn-around of staff should be a RED FLAG. As a result of high turn-around, the staff is highly incompetent. Each time I asked staff members questions regarding my lease, I always received different (inconsistent) answers - depending on who I spoke to.

The management disrepects tenants' privacy, which is also a violation of landlord-tenant law. For example, I had once requested that I wanted to cancel my rental of the washer and dryer units; however, the apartment manager, Amy, said that the request MUST be in writing to be effective. After that phone conversation, we had no further discussions about the washer and dryer units. However, when I came home one day, both units had been removed. According to Ohio landlord-tenant law, the landlord must give notice prior to entering the tenant's home (except in emergencies). When I confronted the manager about this incident, her story completely changed--this time said that minor requests need not be in writing and that is why she had my washer and dryer removed. But even if this true, she was still under an obligation to give me notice before entering my apartment while I was away.

THE BUILDING
The quality of the homes are less than desirable. Whenever there is high winds, you can not only hear the siding flapping against the wall but can also feel a draft coming in through the edges of the windows. After one particular storm, I saw pieces of gutter hanging from building while other pieces were scattered on the ground.

THE MAINTENANCE
During snow storms, management will make sure that the entrance areas of the complex to be cleared of snow; however, if you lived in a building further inside the complex, the streets would be ignored and filled with snow.

In addition, although the apartment has a clean-up after you pets policy, management does NOTHING to enforce this. Everyday I have seen people bring their dogs to the grassy areas in the back of my apartment so that the dogs can relieve themselves, but nobody cleans up after their dog's mess. I have taken digital photos of this and sent it to management, but they have been indifferent about the situation. Worst of all, it seems like every other tenant has a dog in the complex and nobody bothers to use a leash on these dogs as they like to come chasing after you when you go to your car in the mornings.
