Our Review for Greenhill Village & The Great North Woods

One of the more scenic apartments in the Northern Woods area, Greenhill Village & The Great North Woods offers tenants green hills on the property, which is much coveted by renters. Reviewers enjoy the easy going community and hospitality of apartment staff. Maintenance is sometimes slow on repairs, some reviews say. Situated on the outskirts of a housing complex, these apartments are within a mile away from Cooper Park and James O. Casto Park for tenants who want to get out and get some fresh air. For the golfers, Minerva Lake Golf Club is less than a mile away. Just over 1 mile from the property, residents will find Columbus Square Shopping Center where an Ollie’s can satisfy any conceivable need there is.

I am giving this apartment complex only three stars simply because if you keep to yourself and things it really ain't that bad of a place to live.

However. Every time it rains the water comes down and floods inside the basement and I have repeatedly told the landlords about it. So far the maintenance crew has come out on only four occasions and then done nothing about it. None of the gutter working does what it is supposed too. If you look out your back patio and down the row of buildings you are at you will see that water is just pouring into everybody's patios.
Your neighbors will play loud and annoying music. The children will run around screaming. You will feel out of place if you are white. There were some kids who attempted to be 'gangster' and 'thugs' around here but lately they haven't shown up. It may have been tied into the fact that several families all fled leaving past due AEP bills in the hundreds of dollars needed to be paid before they would reconnect he power and such.

One neighbor left in the middle of the night saying that half their basement fell in and they haven't had any help from the landlords so they were just leaving. Some people have their stairs leading to their doors busted apart and so far not fixed.

Somebody came onto my back patio an broke my glass patio table in the middle of the night.

Black mold is growing everywhere in the basement bathroom we -used- to use as a guest room. Now friends and family won't come over because of how bad the place floods and the mold grows. I've sent letters, given notes, and other things. But my work schedule barely allows me to go in and talk to them directly and my room mate doesn't have the ability either due to his work.

Tried to get into Escrow, or whatever that place is. And tried a few other things with the city but they haven't gotten back to us. I was told by one person "There are to many cases open against this complex and it may be a while until we get an agent to represent you and come file your complaints."

My lease is almost up and we've been dealing with the mold and flooding for practically the entire time. But since we don't go down there much except for washing our clothes we barely have to deal with it.

But it's just the principal of things. You shouldn't be expected to pay full rent all the time and then get no help back. I fail to see how their thinking is. If they continue to let the basement bathroom flood and decay I'd hate to see how much it takes to fix it after they could've fixed it before.

Things aren't bad here, per say. But if you have issues with anything they won't fix it. Best to just make due of what you got and go with it. Even if it sucks.

Oh, most of the people who live here seem to be on government assistance with their bills or so. And it won't be uncommon to see several families living in one apartment town home. During the winters when you are struggling to afford the electric bill by running your heat just a bit, you'll see the others with their windows open all the way an heat just pumping out.

It'll make you sick.
